Old Game Revival?

There was an old iOS game created by Crowdstar Inc. called Mermaid World that was loved by many people. The company was bought by Glu Mobile which was bought by Electronic Arts (EA).

I see plenty of people reminiscing and posting old photos of this game. The art was so pretty and the mermaids were beautiful. You could collect mermaids, send them out to find treasure, and decorate their living spaces. The mermaids had stats of their mood and it was truly rewarding getting one to an “ecstatic” mood.

You could buy mermaids and you could also “call” mermaids. Based on their color and type they would call in other mermaids, some rare and some common. I remember the first day I got a golden mermaid I was so happy, she was so pretty.

I miss this game a lot. It’s indescribable how much I miss this game and would pay or do anything to play it again.

What are the chances we can get this game a revival? I can imagine it being a hit mobile game with children, teens, and adults. I believe this game has a lot of potential, and with modern advert culture I think it would thrive. How and who can I convince to get this game up and running again?

I apologize if this is not posted in the correct group, I’m not familiar with this site. If you can, please point me in the direction I need to go. Thank you!!

Not aware of any plans to bring back these older titles Skyla2727 but I'm happy to pass the feedback on.

I would suggest that you not hold your breath as this is unlikely to be something that will happen.

Hello! I'm glad this is recent, because I've been wanting to ask, even if there is low potential for EA to bring back Mermaid World, what potential is there for a fan recreation of it to be successful? I am willing to work on recreating this game and releasing it, potentially on Steam or Itch.io, but I know that with the acquisition of Crowdstar by EA, there are rules regarding fan games or game recreations. My question is, does that apply to games that can't be played anymore, such as Mermaid World, since the game's servers were shut down? I feel like this might still fall under the Be Original section of the EA Content Policy, which I would understand if that means I couldn't recreate the game, but I know lots of people including myself would love to play this game again, and since this is such an old game, I'm unsure if this still applies. I just wouldn't want to do all the work of recreating it just to get a takedown notice. Thanks in advance for your help!

This is not really something that we could really offer an opinion on yyhh4j264k91 but that said, we do have this help article

All the info around what can and cannot be done would be covered in it.
