A Way Out Can't Connect

Friend and have both have the game, and we cannot connect to each other or anyone else...

    I tried these steps still waiting for friend to join but for some reason he sits staring spinning yellow wheel is there anything I can do to fix my problem

    I've tried everything possible, and I can't connect to my friends they can't connect to me.
