A way out cant play with my friend

Hi I"ve recently bought the game A way out and i cant play with my friend, we have to separate computers and we both want to play it, the game has not been cooperative, we got it through steam and when we launched it, it was perfectly fine however we tried joining each other and it did not work, we used steam remote play to try to get it to work but he was not being registered as the second player, I've tried adding him via origins and inviting him that way but when i searched for him in the origins application he was not there, i trying searching his email, ea id and his real name to no avail, i would love some support with this as i cant find anything similar to this anywhere
