Bug with the Dogs after the Bridge

Product: A Way Out
Platform:PC
Which mode has this happened in? Online Co-Op
Which character were you controlling? Vincent
Summarize your bug So me and my bud are almost out and away from the prison escape scene except for the dogs and sliding down the mountain scene, when the dogs bite him and it says tap e. Well he did that tapping, at first fast but after that failed he tried a moderate tap and then a slow. Each time after a certain number of taps it goes up almost all the way and then falls all the way down and he dies, therefore we fail that part and have to do it again. I tried it on local with a controller by myself as both people, I restarted from the bridge scene and everything same problem.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? By completing the bridge scene and when the dogs bite you thats the bug.
What happens when the bug occurs? the tap (e) function fills almost to the top when you tap it and then it goes all the way down and you fail and then die
What do you expect to see? the bar to work and not bug out.

  • I have Vsync turned on in my gpu and game settings, Also tried different resolutions and screen modes.

    i'm on local play.
I have gone above and below the bridge and had different characters and controllers/keyboard on this part.
I cannot seem to pass it even when trying to tap rythmically or as fast as possible.

What am I doing wrong? I watched a video online and someone taps 3 taps and is out of the bite..... I don't want to download a key presser to get past this.

  • SOLUTION: Lower the FPS of the game by enabling VSync AND making sure your monitor is not running at a high refresh rate. (This means changing your display output away from a high refresh rate, for example 120, 144 or 240 Hz down to 60 Hz. This is done on Windows 10 usually through the Nvidia or AMD control panel, or you can access it by right-clicking your desktop > Display settings > Advanced display settings > Refresh Rate. You can check what frame rate the game is rendering at by enabling the FPS counter, for example in the Steam overlay.

ANOTHER SOLUTION: Should you have the know-how, you can also use Nvidia or AMD control panel to limit the fps of the game manually, without using VSync, but I will not explain how to do that here, it's fairly easy to look up a how-to on that. (Try words like "how to limit game fps in Nvidia/AMD Control Panel)

REASON WHY THIS HAPPENS: It seems to me that this happens due to animations being tied to the framerate. This is completely normal practice in console games where the developers can expect the frame rate to sync to either 30 or 60 hz, but on computers where our refresh rates might vary based on hardware, usually has bad implications. For example, if you have a baller GPU and try running older games like Skyrim or Oblivion, you might notice that the physics go crazy, and objects are flying around. Limiting the FPS usually fixes these issues, but sadly that means you can't play your game at a high refresh rate like you might want to. I don't remember if it's the case specifically in Skyrim or Oblivion, but using it as an example. I know this exists in GTA: Vice City, because I played that recently where I had to limit the FPS.

  • I had this bug and figured out the fix. It is connected to your fps. My monitor default is 240 hz and we weren't able to free ourselves from the grip of the hounds' jaws. Then I manually set my fps to 60 frames and it wasn't even a problem. You can either do this through the manual settings on your monitor or display properities on windows. I hope this helps and I imagine this to be only a problem for pc gamers with consoles only able to go up to 30/60 fps.
