How to play A way out multiplayer when both parties own the game

Me and my friend bought a copy of A Way Out,and we cant figure out how to paly together. It says that only one of us needs the game,but we didnt see this at the time. I do not want to refund the game...

    I am playing on steam(pc). And was trying to invite friend but not working.

      @thebeastslair It should allow you to find Steam friends to invite from the games main menu. Do you get an error message or does your friend never get the invite?

        No we didn’t get any error but if we invite they do not receive the invite only
