It Takes Two - Friend not receiving my invite

I've gone through this thread trying the various fixes, I am playing on PC, own the game through steam and have tried playing through steam and the EA launcher. Nothing has worked to fix this issue and frankly this is quite upsetting, what was the point of purchasing the game if it seems I'd only be able to play co-op? This is such a giant disgrace to basically abandon the people who'd like to just enjoy this game together when they paid at least $60 to do so. But instead you have your poor Community Manager copy paste replies with various things to "fix" this on the users side, when we know this must be an issue with the game, that could probably be patched if any amount of resources went toward it, but no, let this game die and become abandonware like so many other titles.
