It takes two freezes in main menu

Hello,

I used to play it takes two on steam standalone half a year ago, it used to run ok, I used to even stream it to the TV. Since yesterday I keep trying to make it run, its on the same pc, with same hardware and software, it ran previously...I kept searching on the internet and the threads here, none of the suggested fixes do anything. How is this possbile? was there some update in the past months? Can I revert it somehow?
