I would like them to at aleast acknowledge the issue. Ive compared it to the series x and ps5 definitely has a horrible graphics issue. It's not good and I would've taken it back for refund if I knew they weren't going to fix it, or at least acknowledge it.

It seems that to get the fps back to where you had it in ch1/2, you need to tour your entire maps area and remove ALL basic karakuri litter. And probably vines too to be safe
this started fine but got worse with time
by the time we were late game ch4 it was 20 fps outa battle. Throw rain in and the screen looked 540p
the rain automatically comes late ch4 everywhere and never stops til ch5
After deleting every single piece of karakuri in a map, then finishing ch 4 so the rain freaking stopped, FPS finally is normal again just like in ch1/2. This is also probably why theres heated debates about the topic. Good vs horrible. Players that build next to nothing and dont leave litter karakuri on the map will never have this issue (on ps5)
problem with this is karakuri all over is supposed to be a feature. In this case it actually wrecks fps completely on ps5. So does rain.
the only thing on my maps now are tents and radars. And i no longer let other players in for assist. Im not picking up their garbage just so my fps maintains
there is also a video on reddit showcasing that placing a ridiculous # of ‘basic’ karakuri down in minato took fps down to 5 and eventually crashed the entire game

It's a good thing I'm a bit OCD about having random karakuri littering my map so I delete them whenever I run across them lol, hopefully my good habit will help me come the later chapter.

Coming into Chapter 4 on the PS5, the game is approaching unplayable for me as well. Eternal slow motion in combat, multiplayer or solo. If it has to do only with extra katakuri on your map, I'm not sure why the problem is suddenly popping up in multiplayer games as well, unless other people are also experiencing the same issues, and I am just getting that slowdown and lack of responsiveness due to the map of the host (which is not always a console player, but often a PC player).
Also, Chapter 4 is when most people start throwing down multiple shrines for resource gathering. I'm wondering if they are somehow eating up performance resources in some way.
Clearing katakuri off the maps may be a way to get performance back, but ironically, katakuri on the maps were a draw for the game. My maps are fairly free of clutter, as I never host. If katakuri are causing this slowdown all of a sudden, in my case, it would seem to be dragon katakuri causing the issue.
Whatever it is, maybe there needs to be the equivalent of a cache flush, or a button on the map to clear all basic katakuri, with further options to also clear specific dragon katakuri, if this will help. I don't knwo what it is honestly, but suddenly, after the game performing well through Chapters 1-3, its a slowdown fest in Chapter 4, and sort of miserable to play, when you combine that with the amped up speed of monsters and the need for precision timing.
Edit: I hosted a game for a couple of friends and I didn't experience slowdown. I'm back to thinking that it has to do with the karakuri in your map, as I cleaned mine up a little bit.
