As i mentioned before, my issue was not the ability to obtain the essence, it was that the game did not recognize that i got them.
I just tried it and even went to get another essence, and nope the issue is still not fixed for me.
It was the reason i posted my version of this bug as a separate topic before it got merged into this one in the hope it wouldn't be overlooked.
Unfortunately it seems it was.
I have an issue where I have changing essence in my inventory but the game doesn't notice it and isn't updating the quest
