PS5 - can't play with PC player (cross-play issue)

I am on PS5, playing with a PC player. In the past I have been able to host a session and the PC player could join me (though sometimes it would take many attempts / reboots). Now it seems I can't connect at all.

- I get invited and accept the invite
- Load into the right map briefly (but not successfully connected)
- Soon after, black screen with "Hunt failed..." or "The Host disbanded the session" message

I am able to successfully connect to other random sessions though - assumedly they're on PS5 as well. The PC player can also play with other PC players.

Anyone have ideas? Apologies for the possible duplicate post, but I've searched everywhere and tried a ton of things:

- Disable / enable online play
- Disable / enable cross play
- Restart the game
- Reboot the PS5

- Check for updates
