Re: Bug Report: Little Joe Progression-Locked Side Quests

Hi

Thanks for your reply. It looks the same in my quest book. I saved little joe. I saved big red and have to confront little joe now. And i have to trade the gubblegregger. This should be with little joe too... Or i am wrong?

Greetings

Adrian

Understood - I haven't actually got back to confront Little Joe yet (as you can see in my screenshot). I did already do the Grubblegegger trade, tho. I think you should follow that questline and then return and see if it unlocks the side quest to talk to Little Joe. I don't think you've done anything wrong, really - just did the questlines in a different order than I did. But I think you need to complete the quest A Reward to Die For before you can talk to Little Joe (and give him the Grubblegegger)

I can't give him the gubblegregger, because i can't speak to him. The icon is the crossed "speak" icon... Can it be, because two quests require to speak with little joe and the game don't know what to do?

The green quest marker is visible over little joe.

It could be - which 2 quests do you have open that require you to speak with Little Joe?

I had to complete the gubblegregger quest before confronting him later on (I remember it taking a while before finding the right word to trade - you'll be able to confront him after the boss battle.

@Realrumblejack - If I'm understanding correctly, you saved Little Joe, then you did the trades and got the Grubblegegger, but you didn't return to Little Joe & give it to him. Then you saved Little Red and returned to Little Joe. So the quests "Two Sides to Every Story" and "Catch Him Red-Handed" are not completed. Is that right?

What platform are you playing on (PC, Switch, etc)? Could you please share a screenshot of your quest log?

@Realrumblejack - Thanks for the screenshots, that really helps. I see what you're saying and it does seem like the game could be confused. I think the game expects you to return the Grubblegegger before you move on to the Upside Downtown.

Where are you in the main questline? Is there anything else you can do / try? I see you have completed Royam's poem. Have you done the boss battle with Royam yet? Maybe share a screenshot of the main quest "A Tale of Two Towns"? I had to do the boss battle with Royam before I was able to confront Little Joe. Maybe if you get through that, it will unlock both of them.

Side note - I know it's a bummer not to complete everything, but at least these are 2 side quests. If we can't get it fixed in some way, I think you can still proceed with the main storyline. But I don't think we should give up yet

    Hi

Thanks a lot. I did everything else already. The only thing open is to proceed to "world 3".

Well, darn it. You'll definitely lose the ability to finish these quests if you proceed to Threedom.

The only other thing I can think of is if you have a local save copy and can overwrite the cloud save. And I'm not a console player, so I don't know how that works. @TTZ_Dipsy would probably have some insight into this.

If you can somehow revert to an earlier save and deliver the grubblegecker before you move on to Royam's battle, it should unlock. I'll work on escalating the issue - in the meantime, if you can't revert to a previous save I'm afraid the choices right now would be start over or move on to Threedom and just don't complete the subquests. If you have to move on, maybe you can make a backup copy of your save as it is right now so if the bug gets fixed you could play this part later. (again, no experience with consoles so I don't know if that's possible)

I know that neither option would be attractive to me, hopefully someone else has some ideas? The good news is that I don't see anything in the achievements list related to completing all the subquests or completing either of these subquests, so you won't miss achievements if you move on.

Completing every single sub-quest isn't needed for Platinum/100% Cheevo and I don't believe anything is directly tied to the Little Joe questlines. You are free to move on at the cost of missing out on a Golden Pin.

You can make a manual save to USB as BlackJack suggested but you would need to wait for a patch and then play from that point on anyway - You're still early enough in the story I recommend just starting over if pure 100% completion is what you're after.

  • This seems the only solution. It's ok for me. I don't have to 100% the game.

Thanks for your tipps and time. 🙏

I have run in to the exact same issue, also on Xbox Series X.

Here are a couple of screenshots, showing my quest progress, and the the in-game chat interaction blocking prompt.

  • I have also encountered the same problem, can't finish Save Little Joe or Confront Little Joe or trade with Little Joe

@177bd61cb3e8e3ab Sad to know it still hasn't been patched in a year or more, guess it never will be at this rate.
