Troubleshooting Game Crashes for PCs with High End Intel CPUs
Greetings Battlemages,
We've become aware of a potential issue that may impact players using higher end (12900k, 13900K, 14900K) Intel chipsets where the UE5 Pipeline State Object (PSO) Cache is causing a crash to desktop in some Unreal Engine 5 based games, including Immortals of Aveum.
If your game is crashing while booting, or on loading and you're using a 12900k, 13900K, 14900K or similar higher end Intel chipset, this is a possible underlying cause of the issue.
While this issue is being addressed, there is a temporary workaround which involves using the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility tool to lower the core clock ratio of your CPU.
Before going further, please be aware that altering clock frequency or voltage may void any product warranties and reduce stability, security, performance, and life of the processor and other components.
The Intel Extreme Tuning Utility should only be used by those comfortable with over/underclocking.
This article from Intel explains how to adjust the CPU core ratios, and provides a downloadable tool to help you do so. The core clock ratio should be lowered from the default settings on the performance cores. This means you'll need to manually adjust the core ratios from the default settings.
The ratios that work for you may vary from others, as they depend on the rest of your PC hardware.
