What solved this problem for me was unplugging the 32gb USB stick/flash drive I had connected to my PC.

I cannot believe this was posted 6 months ago and is STILL AN ISSUE! What the hell EA? How is this a problem? I had the exact same error, and removing my USB Stick fixed it immediately!? I was going crazy here trying all sorts of methods to connect. You guys are truly the worst game company in history.
