Why is there no in game way to delete save slot? - PS5

Why is there no way to delete a saved slot on console?

If you wanted to start a new save, it's possible, however if you decide to delete a save slot, there's no way of doing it outside of deleting the entire save file off your console.

However by doing that you delete everything, not just the one save slot as the save file itself contains not only your three slots, but game system data as well. Meaning that you have to reconfigure everything all over again.
