Can't download EA games through xbox games pass

I recently got Xbox games pass on my laptop. When I try and download any EA games a pop up window appears to sign into my EA account. After signing in the window disappears. When I click the install ...

    Perhaps your account has been disabled for a long time of inactivity; please try to use the last email address registered on that account to reset your password.

When I go to the connections page and try to link to an xbox live account I get the following error message shown below. I have tried creating a fresh EA account but still get the same error message

"Your accounts can’t be linked because your Xbox account SurrealEel8615 already linked to your EA Account for af*****@disabled.ea.com. An EA Account can only be linked to one Xbox account in its lifetime.
