You haven't bought the game, you've bought an Origin Access subscription. You need to cancel your subscription and BUY the Sims 4 base game.

any help would be great, especially whilst in isolation

    You both need to buy the game and not a subscription to Origin Access which is Windows only. Please see clear instructions in the opening post on the first page of this thread I have moved your posts to.

    @Bluebellflora I already paid the $39.99 (around that price) for the game not just the subscription price. Once I downloaded the game my play button was greyed out.
