Hi it seems I cannot download sims 4 on my MacBook. When I go to Origin app and search for sims 4 game it only gives me an option to view it in library. I have previously downloaded it to my PC via steam and now I see the sims on my MacBook in Origin library with the steam logo and no option to download the game. I have tried clearing the Origin cache and re-launch the app, but situation is the same. Can you please help me to solve this? Thank you

@Dup1icat3 The Steam version doesn't work with macOS, which is why you can't download it now. The problem is that your owning the Steam version blocks you from buying, or in this case adding for free, the Origin version of the game. This has been the case since Sims 4 was first available on Steam.
There should be a way around the issue. You could try contacting EA customer support and asking someone to add the Origin version to your account; that should be easy since the game is free now.

If that doesn't work, let me know.

Hey!
I have a small problem. I installed the sims 4 through steam which linked the game to origin. I did all this on my PC.I have now switched to Mac and cannot install the game on my computer because the game through steam was to PC and it is now still on my origin. How do I remove it and reinstall The sims 4 on my mac?

Hi,
I own the Sim4 Digital Deluxe version on my PC via EA Play but I don't have the mac version. Now that Sims 4 base game is free even on mac and I am trying to get it from origin but I only see my "greyed" version of Sim 4 Deluxe version on origin and that is causing conflict with getting the base Sim 4 version on mac. Is there resolution to this ?- puzzlezaddict3 years agoHero+

This worked for me. In your Windows Steam app, choose Help > Steam Support > Sims 4. From there, choose to delete the game from your account. After this, you can download it from the Origin app on your Mac.

Possibly stupid question, but will I lose all game data from games played on my PC through Steam if I delete the game from Steam as suggested in the post above?
I opened a ticket with EA and the support team isn't being very helpful.

@jdp134 Your saves and other user data are stored locally on your computer, in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. These files are independent of the type of install you have, and switching from Steam to Origin or the EA App will have no effect on them. It's still a good idea to back up your saves though, just in general—you never know when you'll run into a computer issue that damages or erases your files.
If you're asking about packs you own, then you do need to use a Steam install in order to play the packs you've bought through Steam.
