EA Play subscription through Microsoft not working

I have EA Play subscription redeemed through Microsoft, but no game pass - how do I get it to work ? I have an active subscription until November, but both Xbox App and EA Play say I need Game Pass

    Hey @Nandybear our membership is available on each platform for $4.99, or regional equivalent. There is no cross platform subscription at this time. As such if you wish to use EA Play on different platforms then you will need an active membership on each.

    Game Pass Ultimate includes access to EA Play on both PC and Console, if you do not have Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC then you will not be able to access EA Play on both console and PC.

Well that sucks. I guess the things were Xbox-labelled gift cards so they probably said on them somewhere that they're only for that platform, so can't really complain about that.
