EA Play/EA Origin Account Accessibility?

I'm quite confused with EA Origin. I've spoken to numerous people in the support but everyone tells me something different. As I'm planning to create an EA Origin account and purchase EA Play Pro, I'm wondering if I can play the available games after all. My work requires me to travel between countries and I'm barely in my homeland. Everything I've found regarding my issue is either outdated or nonexistent. I'm hoping people can answer following questions:

1 If I create an EA Origin account in the US will I be able to play games when I'm in France or China and so on?

2 Does EA Play/EA Play Pro share the same library of games worldwide or do they differ depending on region (I'm aware EA Play isn't available in North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Crimea, and Syria)?

3 Can EA Play Pro games be blocked by region?

4 Can the language for games be changed when moving to a different country?

5 If my EA Origin account is set to the United States but I'm no longer living there because my permanent residence is in a different country, do I have to create a new account in said country, in order to have full access to EA Play Pro and games in country's language?

  • @jlo036  An official answer might be more detailed, but I can at least summarize what I know about EA Play Pro.

    1)  Your EA Play subscription is valid in any country you travel to that supports Origin and EA Play.

    2)  Other than specific games that are blocked in certain countries, the library of games you can access should be the same everywhere.

    3)  I believe that any game already in your library should still be available, as in, you wouldn't be able to add a blocked game through EA Play, but you could play it if you'd added it while in the U.S.  I'm not completely sure though.

    4)  The available languages for a given game depend on the location you were in when you added it to your library.  (If you add the game while in the U.S., you should have all languages available.)  That shouldn't change if you travel, and in fact I've seen plenty of reports that it doesn't change for games that have already been installed, but you may want to install a game in your preferred language just to be safe.

    5)  You don't need to create a new account; everything should already be available.  Again, the languages offered for games you're adding to your library depend on your current location, but the U.S. offers the global versions of most if not all games, so you should already have access to whatever language you want.

@puzzlezaddict I highly appreciate your fast and helpful reply. Over the span of the last few days, I've received different answers on the same subject, but yours seems to be the most reasonable. I'm hoping that someone who works for EA will also reply to this thread.

I've checked my Origin client and the store preference is set to the United States and language is set to English. I'm assuming this means I can receive games available in English (and other languages according to you)?

  • @jlo036  I have EA Play Pro and am in the U.S., and I have all languages available for any game I check.  I can't promise that there are no exceptions, but this is how EA games have worked for a while now.  It doesn't actually matter what language Origin is in, just where you are.  For example, if I traveled to Poland and added something like Sims 4 that's language-locked, I'd get the version that only includes Polish, Russian, and Czech.  If I add it here, I get all 18 languages.
