Game Pass + EA Play games need key?

I recently purchased a game pass membership which includes ea play membership as well. I installed plants vs zombies, but when I execute de application I doesn't start, because it asks me an activation code. I don't  know how to solve this problem. If anyone can help, I'll be very grateful. PD: (I already connected my XBOX account with my EA account, since I did install de game, but the problem appears when I start de application). I include an image below with the exact message that appears.

  • Hey, @Morosuko1 The following steps should help. They have to be followed as stated below. Skipping steps may result in the same error:

    Delete EA License Files:

    • Make sure the EA app is closed.
    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Type or copy and paste "%ProgramData%\Electronic Arts\EA Services" (without the quotes) into the new Window > ENTER.
    • Enable View Hidden Files and Folders
    • Delete all files in the "License" folder.

    Please clear your temp files:

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time
    • Into the new window, type or copy & paste: "%temp%" (Without the quotes.) > hit "ENTER".
    • Your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the "C:\Users\>your user name<\AppData\Local\Temp" folder. > Delete all files and folders in it.
    • (If some files or folders can't be deleted, reboot and try again.)

    Additional steps:

    • Go here and download "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version and portable version work too.)
    • Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall DAI.
    • Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use at the end of the main uninstall. > Select "Moderate" > Browse
    • If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
    • When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All > Delete
    • Run "Revo Uninstaller" > Uninstall EA Desktop.
    • At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Moderate" > Browse.
    • If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
    • When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed, Select All (Making sure the "Origin Games" folder is not in the list) and delete.
    • Restart the PC > Reinstall the newest version of EA app from here.
    • Reinstall the game > Test.

@Morosuko1 Wanted to follow up on this one. Which PvZ is not connecting?

Is it the first one? Is the GOTY PVZ download that isn't connecting when you launch it? I downloaded this through the Xbox App and I was able to launch it and play with no issues.

  • Believe me I already tried to do that, as well as uninstalling and installing the game multiple times and trying everything the EA guy told me to do.

  • @Morosuko1 Hello, I hope I can help you somewhat resolve your issue!

NOTE : I do not work for EA. I'm a passionate gamer who loves hanging out on here and helping people solve their problems with easy to understand and patient methods. I aim to answer as quick as possible to people's dilemmas and provide them with a solution as best I can. Therefore, I will not be held responsible for any damage to property or data loss you could potentially experience during our interactions. This has NEVER happened to any of my clients before, but you need to be made aware of this on the "off-chance" that some error may occur.

Please try repairing your game. To do this, click on the game you are having difficulties with, next to the play button should be a manage button. Click on it and select repair. WARNING: It will restart your EA app.

    Hope this helps xx 🙂
  • Hello, I just installed PvZ Garden Warfare and I didn't have any error. I launched the game perfectly, but I still get the same problem with plants vs zombies.

Gotcha. Can you try downloading one of the other PvZ games, or one of the Mass Effect games from Game Pass and see if you get the same error for me? They all should create that license file as well.

  • I did every step in order, but the game is still not working. Any other suggestion that you have would be very helpful. Thaks.
