Hey @GatorSausage420 certain free-to-play games and game modes don't require Xbox Live but the vast majority do. 

Only Game Pass ultimate includes Xbox Live, so it may be worth looking at Game Pass Ultimate it's cheaper than having both subs separate: https://www.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-game-pass#join

    Same problem as the thread poster.

    Currently have xbox core, that includes xbox gold membership.

    Purchased this due to a good offer on a sale on the xbox store.

    Getting a pop up about joining xbox ultimate and booted back to title screen.
