Hey @aurorum999
Unfortunately that's how it's always been, most if not all EA games on Steam open up the Origin client, the same applies to Uplay for Ubisoft games. I am not a fan of this myself which is why I only buy my EA games direct through Origin. But I don't know if using the Origin client through Steam is Valves idea or EA's.
As for the subscription itself, you have to buy a separate subscription for Origin and Steam as they are both different platforms the same as Xbox and Playstation.
Hope that helps friend.
@CarbonCarli understand. im just saying,
• if nothing has changed,
• and this new additonal extention of ea play has been added to steam,
• where we literally gain nothing except to pay to use origin through steam
• while not having access to our titles without said subscription unless we use origin WITHOUT steam
then what is the actual purpose that would motivate any level headed consumer to purchase this subscription unless they were entirely new to the existence of ea and origin titles (like someone that has never bought an ea game).
for the rest of us this is absolutely useless and i still have long lists of games i haven't even played yet that i've bought on steam (bought as in i own, where no subscription or trial was needed.. i just bought them)
i also have games on ea i haven't played yet, but as i do very strict custom firewall rules, i can't ever get origin to connect like any other game or program that i use (steam). so, that's why my games are sitting there, im not playing them until im no longer using or buying from steam, and i wont be buying in the future. that's also why i was excited, and now really let down, when i heard about ea play on steam.
- CarbonCarl5 years agoHero (Retired)@aurorum999 I think in a nutshell they don't want you to use Steam as they're a third party client and kind of a competitor, the same applies to most other big name companies, blizzard, bethesda, ubisoft, microsoft all require a client or account log in of some sort.
