Blurry visuals past 50-80m distance from player

Product: F1 23
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug No matter the settings, including every option hidden away in the config file (cmaa2 or AA off for example), including DLSS / FSR or not, looks blurry past a certain distance. Turning off Antialiasing reveals a game that does not look like it's running at the right resolution internally, but I could be wrong on that. The closest things visually would be using very aggressive DLSS / FSR settings or the wrong mipmap levels. This makes it really difficult to make out reference points like distance boards for turn entry. Add to that the ghosting present in the game, and that F1 cars move pretty fast, it's not a good time.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? doesn't matter
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? doesn't matter
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Look at the game in any setting, try to look at things in the distance. Especially text, distance markers, etc. When in motion, it is even more noticable due to massive ghosting.
What happens when the bug occurs? Blurry visuals, distance boards and other common reference points can't be seen properly
What do you expect to see? Clearer visuals, like being able to read the numbers on the distance boards when at a reasonable distance, like in previous games.

Everything is already in the bug summary.

  • Well, this was added into the "Awaiting Patch" section of the issues page.

However, I have a very strong feeling that we're gonna get the update and it's still gonna look the same.

  • There's some improvements as of patch 1.10, unfortunately, it pretty much doesn't make a difference due to the god awful TAA the game has overshadowing it.

I don't think the AA sharpness option is even working lol, I've changed it many times and there's no difference.

  • @RallerZZ The AA sharpness is just the fidelity FX sharpening filter. Won't help much with a very blurry and soft image
  • @void_snw Yeah, I just turned off the motion blur and DoF effects from the file itself, it helps a bit more after the update and I would say at least to before, the difference is noticeable.

But overall the TAA is still the main offender, I will test out with TAA off through the files and see if the overall blurriness is still there or not, only way to know if it's actually been fixed and it's just TAA being TAA.

  • @RallerZZ Thats my thought too. Haven't had time yet to check, but since they only mention rendering not antialiasing, im hopeful using driver level antialiasing might give better results now.
  • @void_snw So basically, turning off AA in the files completely and going in-game, the blur seems to be gone.

However, you definitely have to turn off Motion Blur and Depth Of Field in the files or set the Post Processing setting to Low cause it still makes the game look significantly blurry, even if to a lesser degree.

For me, same blurry graphics after update.

    like an old pc game

  • And also this year first bug fixes and then the game left to itself. The graphics are still somewhat blurry but the developers don't seem to care.

  • and furthermore, the bar to manage motion blur does not work as it has never worked for 2 years now
