- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@RVladimiro It was a old episode off Top Gear. Clarkson did a lap on gran turismo in a Honda NSX and then tried to match the time in same car iIRL. Most important takeaway from it. Clarkson May not be a racing driver. But he’s got skills and is fast. He’s no joke. However he’s no gamer and used a pad when he did a lap on Gran Turismo. Sims have come a long way since the time he did it. However he still couldn’t come close IRL to the time he set on GT.
However. Back when I had my Audi RS4 b7. 420BHP V8 monster 😍. It came with a gimic. Had a lap time counter. Press button when Starting a run and every lap press button to record lap time. So obviously lots off fun on track days. Although track day rules says your not allowed to record times. As that would make people competitive and risk safety off others. But I still used it… I’m a Bad Boy🙄😇.
Anyhow Brands Hatch Indy circuit. (Short Lap) I consistently lapped 48sec lap. Was it fast? Have no clue. Felt fast and Brands first corner is one off the most terrifying corners on any track anywhere. It’s fast and drops downhill and braking point is right on a rise. Car absolutely hates it and becomes incredibly unsettled and if you don’t get it settled at the exact right time you crash and burn. At the same time your dealing with the weird sensation off what best feels like your brain getting squished up Into the top off your head. Makes your brain feel really cold… I assume to blood leaving your brain for a split second. Doesn’t hurt just a very weird sensation.
Anyhow I’m not sure if it was NFS Shift 1 or 2. But when I got it I saw that not only could you drive Audi RS4 but Brands Hatch Indy circuit was also in game. So remembering Clarksons experiment. I set some laps at Brands. And to my complete surprise. Also Brands Indy is a very short lap. I Was only half second faster in game… So yes games are faster but alot comes down to the fact no matter how real a sim may feel. You can push as hard as you like without feeling g-forces or being in a constant state off self preservation - iiKIDOi3 years agoNew Veteran
don't get me wrong - the new handling is top notch. maybe they can just turn the engine down a little. it looks like they hit like the 300 km/h earlier than real cars ( maybe they added tailwind to the game - it would be amazing if you can add tailwind and headwind to f1 games in future ).😉
- @ScarDuck14 the only comment I have is that you lapped on Brands Hatch, so I'm torn between envy and hatred and other pleasant feelings.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@RVladimiro It’s local to me. Like ten miles as crow flies. Although I live on the better side off the River Thames and it’s on the worse side 😇
Plus you can do half day track days so back in the day when I had money and fast cars. If I had a free day I could book up in the morning and rock up in the afternoon for £100.
Kinda weird I’ve done many trackdays around the country. With Audi owners clubs. So you would think as a F1 fan I would have done Silverstone. But nope🤷🏻♂️. - JRVolts3 years agoNew Adventurer@iiKIDOi EA won't do anything to change the grip levels as 2 reasons
1: Everyone would kick off if they gave less grip like everyone kicked off even some eSports drivers even quit the league racing on 22 when they put less grip on that game so EA won't make that mistake again as having a eSports driver quit league on 22 was a big message to EA to put more grip for 23 which they have done so would forget about the less grip as EA won't change anything.
2. EA F1 23 is a arcade game so you won't get the times to relastic real life times as it's F1 23 is not a Full SIM game it's a arcade game so obviously the times in game is gonna be faster than Real life F1 Times because it's a arcade game so till EA decides to change to F1 Full SIM racing game you'll get these F1 Arcade racing games with unrealistic times as EA are Multiple Million dollar company but they wouldn't be able to afford to make a F1 Full Racing game as it wouldn't be worth Thier own cost to make the game for that 1 year they would lost too much money, so the only way EA could actually make a F1 Full SIM racing game with relastic performance times is if they just Brought out like a F1 game only next gen and PC then EA could do it like Iracing where it's just 1 whole game but they updated with new features that's the only way EA would make money and keep everyone happy who wants relastic F1 Times but EA won't change the grip levels as you have to remember EA is a business and the eSports drivers are loving the grip levels and all good reviews on grip levels and handling model by all eSports drivers, You have to see it from EA they keep eSports drivers happy as alot of players look up to them so if eSports drivers are happy and are they are with grip levels and handling model then everyone is happy and that means more players buying and playing F1 23, because you think how much EA lost and looked when a eSports driver said he had enough of 22 that's it I'm quitting league racing on F1 22 that looks so bad on EA so they actually listened to the eSports drivers from last game on 22 and now gave more grip 23 which everyone is loving the new handling model. - Meza9943 years agoSeasoned Ace@JRVolts You do know that even the full on racing sims with approved-by-F1teams versions of F1 cars produce much faster laptimes than real life?
You can't reproduce everything on a computer all the turbulence and imperfection of street and bumps
It will always be faster unless you fake some parameter to try to match the time lowering the power of the cars but that it would effect different each track as some are more directly correlated to power then others
You will never have a game make the exact same times as reality simulator at arcade there is no way
- JRVolts3 years agoNew Adventurer@Meza994 F1 23 isn't a SIM racing game tho it's a arcade game so times will be faster than real life times on a arcade game so till EA decides to make a Full SIM racing F1 game times with always be faster as it will cost EA too much money to make a Full SIM racing game for 1 year every year they won't make it as 2 things cost too much money to make and they would lose too much money if people didn't buy it as they are a business so like every business the project gets set amount to spend then all about profit as 22 cost them loads of money when they changed the grip levels on that game so they wont make that same mistake again
- Meza9943 years agoSeasoned Ace@JRVolts As i said, even on full sim games the times are faster than real life lol
It has nothing to do with EA or money, IRL drivers can NEVER reach the limits of a car simply because of self preservation, g-forces, bumps and much more.. And real drivers say current F1 23 grip is more realistic than in previous year :D - JRVolts3 years agoNew Adventurer
@Meza994True I suppose EA has got enough on Thier hands at the moment with all the bugs and the game getting over run by those who are using cheats in Ranked lobbies and Custom Leagues lobbies, Time Trial so to be honest think the most important thing is EA needs to take their game back from these players using cheats as every Ranked lobbies on cross play there is someone using cheats as 2/3 seconds faster than everyone else in lobby both in Dry and wet races so EA need to get this Anti Cheat system out and ban these players as it's awful but Cheating as become some much more since Cross play was added so think they should get rid of Cross play completely and let the PC and console players play on Thier own again as Cross play has just made a war between PC players and console players as in Ranked lobbies you see some PC players using cheats then the console players taking them out all the time so it's just a war zone in ranked lobbies with all the players using cheats and taking eachother out
