F1 23 Gear Ratios

Product: F1 23
Platform:Xbox Series X
Please specify your platform model. Microsoft Xbox Series X
Summarize your bug Pretty self explanatory. The gear ratios are too short for 8th gear. When you use DRS, overtake and a bit of slipstream, I'm hitting the rev limiter (which makes a dreadful sound btw) at 215-216 MPH as I'm going past the pit entry in Baku. Same as Monza and Vegas I'm maxing out WAY before the end of the straight. Surely this needs to be adjusted? Just a small change to make either 8th gear slightly longer (I'd personally say up to about 230mph to be safe, this covers a low downforce, double/triple slipstream, DRS and ERS combo) or move all the gears, whatever is easiest, it just needs to be altered slightly.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? JBHK-KBAJ-PMDM-GTJG
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? BT
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Run low downforce at a track with a long straight, Baku, Monza, Vegas etc. DRS and overtake down the straight and it will hit the rev limiter before the end.
What happens when the bug occurs? The engine sounds like a blender and you VMax out.
What do you expect to see? continued acceleration with slightly longer gear ratio for 8th gear.

As above.

  • 8th gear have been too long for several years so this year it's finally back to normal so DONT change that . But all gears could maybe be increased a bit but f1 cars do hit the rev limit IRL too so its not unrealistic

I’ve never seen a modern era F1 car hit the rev limiter in 8th gear. Not 2020 onwards. Last time i saw a car hit the rev limiter in top gear was Hamilton at Monza in 2011 when he was stuck behind Schumi. Not seen it since. If all else fails at the very least change the sound it makes when u hit the limiter

  • @Biggzy1867 I’m having the same problem. I’m in my second season in my career and I have a lot of Aero Drag Reduction upgrades and Engine Power upgrades and I still can’t go faster than 218 MPH (350 KPH). I thought upgrades would help with the top speed. Also the fact that the car hits the rev limiter so often it really kills the ICE life even with Major and Minor reliability upgrades.
  • @KrazyLurt I don't think the problem is that they are long or short but rather that the rev limiter is hitting at approximately 13k RPM when the limitation is 15k RPM per regulation. Even if the ratios stay as they are, I don't think we should be hitting the rev limiter so early.

I'll admit I'm abundantly ignorant about the details, so probably I'm wrong but this is how I read these complaints.

Haha the first time I bumped the rev limiter at Baku I thought my engine had popped and I looked back to check if there was smoke and missed my braking point and slammed into the T1 wall. Marc was like "What just happened?" And I yelled back, "You tell me!"

The sound it makes is horrible.

If thats the case, then devs only need to increase the rev limit to 15 000 rpm.

As long as they leave 8th alone and dont make it longer, because that have been an issue since at least f1 2017.

I think they need to have different gear ratios for GP and career mode, and career mode to have dynamic gear ratios that increases as the cars get faster. That's the eaisest and best solution.

Or they could literally give us the ability to change the gear ratios at the start of each season. We used to be able to do it so it is possible, just make it so it has to be done at the start of each season inline with regs

Just make it anytime in the season in career mode and those modes that progresses the car. I dont care for much else than GP but I know that the progress is those other modes are so fast so setting gear ratios at the start of the season is probably not enough.

Who cares if it's like the current f1 regulations, this is a mode on steriods anyway and not close to realistic, so why should this gear ratio rule be in place.

In fact they don’t need to change the ratio, that would also change the maximum speed, but just decrease the sound of the revs in 8th gear without hitting the limiter. They just need to find a way to maintain the gear ratio changing the noise. Otherwise we would have again cars reaching unreal maximum speed.
