Just to add that as a consequence of this improved choice, the driver could choose for example to run a set of used (S) in the Sprint Race to keep a brand new (S) set for the main race, whereas today if you select a (S) set for the Sprint, you cannot choose which one, it will always be the new one (which can no longer be used in the main race, as in the example).
It happened in reality in Brazil, where Verstappen and others chose to race the Sprint with an used set.
