Logitech G920 Wheel not working after the 2nd time I launched F1 23 game

Product: F1 23
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug When the game launches it flashes past the load screen when my Logitech G920 Wheel is plugged in. At the screen where it says Press Any Button I cannot do so, there is no response. Previously (1st time I used the game everything had worked perfectly). I could get past the menu by unplugging the wheel and using my Xbox One controller (I couldn't even use the keyboard). When I went into the control menu, the Wheel is recognized but I cannot get any buttons to work or set it up as the controller. I don't really understand what has happened when it was working perfectly the day before.
What is your 16 digit Report Code? ABCG-BSBP-TEMB-VPGE
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider? Slingshot
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? If you have a Logitech G920 Wheel plug it into the CPU and try to load the game. You should experience the same problem that I did. When I launched the game without the Wheel it responded as it should have but I want to use the wheel and not a controller (especially when it had worked well before)
What happens when the bug occurs? Essentially, there is no control response from pressing any buttons on the G920 Wheel. While the game seems to read that the Wheel is plugged in and gives it as a control option in the controls menu, any attempt to use the Wheel gives no response at all. There is no way to select it and calibrate it to the game or get it to work.
What do you expect to see? As mentioned before, the first time I launched the game I was able to use the Wheel as the main controls for navigating menus and for driving the car in game modes. So I would expect to be able to use the wheel to do all of those things again instead of having to use only an Xbox Controller to play the game.

I have tried a number of different things.

I checked for updates for drivers for the wheel and all other control devices. I made sure I had the latest updates for the game and the wheel.

I tried to repair the game (but it just kept endlessly trying to repair but not completing it).

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled the game (but I think maybe I didn't uninstall all the local files since it had my wheel settings in the control menu inside the game after the reinstall)

I unplugged all controllers when launching the game. It still flashed through the loading screen unless the Xbox One wireless controller was plugged in.

The only other thing I can think of that might be an issue is perhaps somewhere in the game files something went wrong that is now affecting the game from being able to use the wheel? I heard that can sometimes happen in some games. But I don't know enough about computers to really know if that is true in this case.

I also tried a couple of fixes mentioned on the forum about other wheels not working. But I can't get anything to actually happen.

It used to work on the first day I used the game. And now the second day I tried to use the wheel it does not work. That is all I know really.

I have tried using the wheel in other games I have including F122 and it seems to be working fine and as I said it did work for an hour or so on the first day I used the F1 23 game.

  • So after no replies to my question I decided to do some more different things. Cleared my computer's temp files cache. Still the same problem.

So then I just unplugged and removed my XboxOne controller. Still the same issue, no control.

As a last resort I just hit random buttons on my keyboard but nothing worked until I randomly pressed my touchpad mouse and then hit enter.

Hey presto now it works again!

So if anyone had the same issue as me try that. It worked for me.

Thanks for posting back. Touchpad mouse? Best workaround for playing with a wheel is to just have the wheel connected and no other controller. XB1 controllers can introduce stick drift if they exhibit it.
