It’s not the actual racing line. I think it’s one of the practice programs when you need to do a second lap to complete it.

Think it’s the tyre wear program. If you do a second lap it will display where you were red, green or purple on the previous lap.

Yeah it could be other visuals related to the practice programme (although it's a consistent graphic that looks more like the racing line than gates or something else). Either way it's utterly broken and makes it unplayable to finish a practice session.
