Hello everyone!
I'm struggling with weird frametime spikes in recent F1 games, currently with F1 23.
Because I simply cannot find a solution for this, I try my luck here in the forum.
Attached you should find the DxDiag and two Screenshots with the relevant graphs (ignore the beginning and end of the graphs as that was when the game launched and closed).
The graph was recorded whilst I was standing still at the final corner of Spa in timetrial. However, those stutters also happen in benchmarks, in Grand Prix and at different tracks.
(Mainboard would be a MSI Pro Z-790 A WIFI if required)
Hardware should be absolutly enough, and in the tests I've done I can get over 200fps without a limiter, but still get sutters / frame time spikes.
No component on my system is overclocked, so that shouldn't result in instability.
Temps are also nowhere near for overheating.
Here are the things I've already tried (atleast the things I've noted down):
- Playing on SSD and M2
- HAGS on/off
- Gsync on/off
- Different GPU drivers
- Disabling RGB on GPU
- Diffrent VBIOS of the GPU
- Different mainboard BIOS versions
- 2. monitor off
- Game mode on/off
- Different fps limits (seems to be worse at lower fps limits)
- Different fps limiting software
- DDU
- Manually clearing Shader cache
- Lowest graphic settings
- Lowest graphic settings + asynchronus compute (AC off makes it worse)
- Reset Settings in Nvidia control panel
- Fullscreen + Gsync in fullscreen only
- Deleting hardware_config
- Repairing game
- Reinstalling game
- System checks
- Hardware checks (Memory, drives, etc.)
- XMP on/off
- Clean boot
- Disabling CFG (for F1 and in general)
And here are some things I've observed while testing:
- Frame limiters seem to be bugged? With Reflex off and just the limiter, the locked framerate does not match with the setting. For example - if I limit the framerate to 140fps, the game runs at 138fps. If I set it at 135, the game runs at 133 and so on.
- With Reflex / Low-Latency-Mode on, my frames are limited at 137-138 (as it should).
- Lower framerate limits seems to make the problem worse (especially at 60fps).
- It seems to only affect the newer F1 games (tested until F1 2018).
- Other games don't seem to have any major issues like F1
I'm at a loss and can't seem to find the problem, so any ideas / solutions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
