It feels like its an intentional reflection effect from the helmet visor, but would be good to be able to turn it off for VR.
@doctorcrypto I thought so at first but I can't see any evidence of this effect in non-VR mode other than some light reflections on the halo.

Yea for real. I got the pausing issue fixed and now it's unplayable in VR due to the reflections at bahrain!
