Updated Career mode car vs. Baseline (bug?)

Hi everyone.

I'm playing career mode in PS4 with a Thrustmaster T150 and currently I'm on season 4, where I'm nearing the completion of every car upgrade possible.

  1. I've noticed two things after having the car heavily upgraded when comparing to the baseline car we have in race 1 season 1:

- The brakes get much worse: I was in Baku season 4 and I couldn't stop the car for the life of me in turns 1, 2, 3 and 14. I hoped on to time trial to compare with the exact same setup and it was absolutely fine. I was even breaking too early because I was used to the career mode beaking points. Does this happen to you as well?

- Fuel is broken if you have the fuel upgrades and you manually complete the race strategy programme. If you do so, during the race the car consumes much more fuel, it gets almost impossible to save enough to get to the end. If you don't complete the race strategy programme and you simulate it in quick practice then it's fine and you can actually underfuel. This is certainly a bug but I haven't heard or read anything about this.

Thank you!

  • The fuel situation has ruined career mode for me. I can’t finish a single race now. I have no fuel upgrades so I think it’s just running the race program that’s the bugIt was fine up unti the last patch or 2

I will try not running race program from now on

Ive added a bug for the fuel issue

Fuel is actually working in MyTeam.    One off the few things that is.

Brake upgrades have been an issue in for a few years atleast.    I generally don’t upgrade:  But when I have.  I will reduce brake pressure by 20-30%

  • @ScarDuck14

Thanks, I will try that next time.

Do you say that issue comes from the brake upgrades or does it come from upgrading the rest of the car and the brakes aren't good enough to stop it?

@Darthsausage44 Try not running the programme like you said and let me know if it worked for you. It solved it for me.

To control the fuel I need for the race I just do a lap in practice and see how much fuel I burned. For example, if I cross the line to start the lap with 5.00 laps of fuel and I finish the lap with 4.05 laps of fuel left it means I'm using 0.95 of fuel every lap, which means I will be able to underfuel. If it's over 1.00 then I'll need to put more fuel or save a bit during the race.

I always do a manual fuel calculation from running in practice, and cross reference it with the fuel recommendation from race strategy programme data. But suddenly it’s way out. In Hungary with max fuel on 100% distance I started with -4.5 laps of fuel🤣 Spa and Monza where both ok and in hindsight I think now that was because race strategy was not one of the programs

@1d20116099d40d84 It’s specifically the brake upgrades, There has been some debate over the years if it’s when you upgrade all off them or it’s just one that’s causing the problem. I tend to think it’s when you’re upgrading more than a minor and major. Reason is car brakes good enough without upgrading brakes. Especially when upgrading weight reduction aids braking as it is. I always upgrade weight reduction as fast as possible as it gives bang for buck as losing weight has no downside.

@1d20116099d40d84 Fuel situation has definatly been broken. Restarted a 100% career and in Bahrain a 6 lap race sim run with 90kg of fuel and no DRS shows fuel consumed at 1.96kg per lap. In other words for the 57 lap race with a full load I will be 2 laps short. I have not done the race strategy program. I my first career on f123 I did not run with a full load and had fuel to spare in Bahrain so something has changed. At this point, never mind if running the race programme makes the consumption higher, skipping it still means I can’t finish a race. The game is completely broken for me

The fuel slider in set up also confirms this. 1 kg of fuel adds 0.5 of a lap

im going to try a practice run with 20kg of fuel and drs and see what the fuel used looks like then

Fuel consumption improve slightly but still too high 1.91 kg per lap

So completed 100% race in Bahrain. Finished with 0.1 lap of fuel after being lapped and some heavy fuel saving in the last fee laps. Luckily we were being lapped so the cars behind didn’t get chance to attack. The AI all had 2 laps plus of fuel left including the ones that did full distance.  Don’t know why the player has been nerfed like this for fuel. Please fix it’s a game breaker as even starting with 110 kg of fuel every race, some tracks require so much fuel save you can’t race. (I have logged this)
