Re: When can we expect the F2 2024 content update?

@SDGMatt Not trying to defend them in general but this year they got to cover a completely new generation of F2 cars and if you want them to make it somewhat realistic then it will take some time to analyze and train the AI to those new car characteristics.

@Meza994 So what happens when we get new F1 regs? The content still comes out annually. They don’t give you last years F1 cars to use for 5 months until they patch in an update… It’s not much for ask for a premium priced £89.99 game. They have to live up to that price tag

@SDGMatt It is usually two months after the games release and as @Meza994 alluded to. Its all new spec cars that have to be built from the ground up.

I expect we will get it next month but hopefully we get confirmation soon

@Cpayne32It’s actually just 1 car with different liveries since it’s a spec series, and we’ve had to wait until late October in previous games for the update. That’s 5 months!
Consider that they created a whole bunch of Supercars (that nobody played) each with completely different handling and their own game mode for the last 2 years, and that they’ve were removed for F1 24.
So it’s not asking much to have expected the 2024 F2 car at launch of the new game…

Of course we wouldnt get the old cars for 5 months but the game would either launch again 4-5 months after season start or you would get a bugged/unrealistic car. As i said before i dont defend them generally taking ages to get the current F2 season. But they cant make a realistic car behaviour with somewhat trained AI within 2 months. The current handling problems are also because its rushed and not enough time to test and fine tune things, that stuff happens when people want it as early as possible, but again, taking till October without any changes is far too long, not arguing that!

The game is of course called 'F1', not something more general including F2. Selfishly I'd be quite happy if they dropped F2 entirely to focus on making the F1 experience better. Obviously loads of people are interested in F2 so not really suggesting this but there are reasons that the situation is different for F1 and F2 content.

Huh?  It usually never releases until October/November.   That's alot more than 2 months.  It usually always comes out right about the time the season is ending and most people lose interest in the game itself by that point.  It's not really a great decision to put it off this long.  It should just ship with the current F2 cars and drivers rather than last years.  At least that way we're able to use the current F2 drivers in my team mode as well.    Although with just a small handful of liveries to choose from My Team mode is pretty pointless at this point anyways.

@Ultrasonic_77 The game IS of course F1, you are right. But F2 has been included over recent years because fans expect an immersive career/MyTeam mode, and that includes progression through the formulas.
They could even include F1 Academy, since this is an F4 car, with F1 branding for its championship, and would perhaps encourage a few girls to play the game.
F2 and F3 are a spec formula, meaning the developers would only really be creating 2 extra cars and handling models. You can’t tell me that this is too much to expect from the studio, when Codemasters have done this as far back as the Xbox 360 era, when they were a MUCH smaller team, by creating a bunch of classic cars for F1 2013. The MotoGP games have included Moto2&3 for well over a decade.
Codemasters also spent time and resources creating several Supercars which have a vastly different handling model to the open wheel formula cars. These were even given their own modes and time trials. So asking for an up to date F2 car and the inclusion of an F3 car is not too much to ask, especially when the game has almost doubled in price over the last few years.
F1 24 had braking point, supercars, all the customisation items, Paul Ricard Circuit etc all removed, but we were charged even more this year…. Don’t accept content being stripped back. Demand more! You’re paying for this!

they lost 35% at the sales launch, let alone gradually given the scandalous game they played....

I confess, I love playing F2. If I start a new career, or sometimes just to have some fun, I race F2

It's bad when the F2 is so much better than the F1, in what's supposed to be an F1 game.

They have themselves to blame regarding a significant downward trend in sales. I have absolutely zero sympathy considering the absolute trash that is F124 and the extortionate price they charge for the worst copy and paste they've created.
