Asetek Wheel is not working / recognized as Controller/Keyboard

Product: F1 24
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
Summarize your bug I'm using an Asetek Forte Wheelbase with the Forte Wheel. It feels like the game is recognizing my Wheel / Wheelbase as a Controller (or Keyboard). Steering input doesn't match and is being limited by the game.
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
What peripherals are you using? Please list the exact make and model. Asetek Forte Wheelbase Asetek Forte Wheel VNM Lite Pedals
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Use Asetek hardware, configure needed inputs and drive.
What happens when the bug occurs? The steering input doesn't match the steering input i'm doing with my wheel. The steering input is getting more limited the faster the turn is. (To prevent understeering with controller) The ingame steering wheel animation is wobbling when driving over curbs.
What do you expect to see? Just unfiltered wheel inputs like with supported wheels, no limiting inputs, no "fake" wobbles. Wheelbase as recognized as a wheel.

I'm using an Asetek Forte Wheelbase with the Forte Wheel. (Pedals are VNM Lite which work as intended.) After initially mapping the controls to my wheel i jumped on track and immediately noticed that there is something wrong with the inputs i am giving with the wheel.

It feels like the game is recognizing my Wheel / Wheelbase as a controller (or keyboard). The steering input doesn't match the steering input i'm doing with my wheel. The steering input is getting more limited the faster the turn is. (To prevent understeering with controller) The ingame steering wheel animation is wobbling when driving over curbs.

Just these things that the controller/keyboard users are experiencing. The icon of my controls setting isn't a wheel, it's a keyboard. That's why i think the game isn't recognizing my Wheelbase as a wheel in first place.

I've tried disconnecting everything except my Wheel from the PC, this didn't work.

Could you please have a look at it. Seems like support for Asetek hardware is missing currently, but there are a lot of people which use Asetek hardware.

Kind regards
René

  • With Patch 1.03 support was added for Asetek Invicta Wheelbase.

It's still not working as still plays like described in the post.

I've been able to fix this issue in F1 25 for my simucube 3, it should work for previous F1 games too. Below are instructions how you can fix it yourselve for any wheelbase.

To resolve it you have to add custom actionmap to explicitly tell the game that this device is a wheel.

    ○ Navigate to your F1 25 installation folder:

    • Usually: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\F1 25\actionmaps

    ○ Find the file named simucube_2_pro.xml

    ○ Copy and Paste this file in the same folder to create a duplicate.

    ○ Rename the duplicate to simucube_3_pro.xml

    ○ Open this new file with Notepad

    ○ Change any reference of simucube 2 to simucube 3

    ○ Change 2 values from "0D6016D0" to "0D6616D0"

    • It is simply PID (Product ID) + VID (Vendor ID), those values can be found in device manager under Human Interface Devices or Universal Serial Bus devices, but you should be able to find those values in the internet.

    ○ Save the file
