Crossplay always has to be enabled for EA players to join Steam players....I was here when it didn't even work, F1 22 I think. I had actually bought on EA but refunded (luckily I was away and did not play) as 90% of my fellow players were still on Steam.
No, you would both be considered to be on PC in this case.

Ironically I also got F1 22 on EA instead of Steam for some reason, so I remember that, but I was under the impression that was addressed in F1 23?
