Hi Barry. I’ve been having the same issue, except instead of a black screen the game just crashes/closes without any warning or error code. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Before launching the game I check that all game files have installed correctly. They have, all 3000+. Open up the game, being on the menu is fine. However, between 2-10 minutes into gameplay (time trail/Grand Prix mode) and it crashes again. I checked the integrity of the games files and it says that 3 files failed to validate correctly. And repeat.
any help would be appreciated.
thank you
same issue here, jsut created a thread about it. in my case it is the anti cheat. in event viewer you can see the details. in my case it is failed to obtain origin directory for the ant cheat service. check like this i know i am not alone in this. it happens every single time i play.

@mainseeker1486 The most common solution has been to reinstall the game. For some reason the 3 files become corrupted, but when steam attempts to validate them, it doesn't view them as corrupted and therefore does not repair them correctly.

Reinstalling Anti-cheat from a fresh download may be the way to go:
