#1 thing you HAVE to focus on STRAIGHT OUT OF THE GATES, is the Durability and Reliability Testing.
It seems like a requirement to not explode every race...
After the Stage 2 durability upgrades, I haven't had much of any issues... they still creep in, but nowhere near as close to before.

Doesnt work like that unfortunately. I keep getting DNFs thru exploded car in 7 races per season approximately even with all durability upgrades being all at level 2. Considering AIs get like 2-3 DNFs at max is crazy.
