Can't play any multiplayer modes because of this... I used a second account on Steam and played fine for a while then the next day it doesn't work either.
I actually played for a bit in single player on my main account and it fixed it until we launched a new two player career, which then broke it again.
I assume you have still not found a solution to this problem? Sad that the game became unplayable with friends.

I am still trying new troubleshooting ideas but to no avail. I was able to remove the "communicating with online servers" message by disconnecting & reconnecting the ethernet cord while in a single player career session. It is nice to get rid of it on the screen, as I play without a hud.
