Are you trying to use the Softs at the start of the race?
If so, i believe either the Tyre Life graph is incorrectly showing the wrong wear (a bug).
Or, the Warm Up Lap is counting for more than one lap of wear.
I know in the League I race in, we ended up disabling the warmup lap due to the AI over cooking the tyres, and causing too much wear.
The Soft Tyres are only good for, at most, 5 laps of driving this year. They're horrible, and have stayed horrible through out the updates. In Career Mode without the Tyre Wear Upgrades, they are 95% useless outside of Qualifying.
Not sure if it's a bug that you're experiencing specifically, or, if it's the poor Soft Tyre Model + AI Bug.
I confirm the problem. While running an online race, we noticed how the game, even with the assignment of "softer" tires, does not give you a new red one, but all used ones. And this is a problem.
