Re: Constant AI DRS train

I have run few races both in grand prix mode and also in career or other modes and in all of them there were DNFs, yellow flags etc like normal. Maybe i am lucky or maybe some people have it turned off in settings by mistake or something.

  • You are one of the lucky ones I would say. First thing I did was check all settings. I believe enough people have raised/mentioned this for it to be a known issue. Even the videos I’ve seen from content creators, the only DNF I’ve seen is one which they caused themselves.

Just doing a gp in gp mode and I’m getting AI mistakes and mechanical failures so it’s driver and my team careers that are broke (not the whole game) This should be a quick fix and patched by tomorrow surely.

obvs still got the drs and ers issues. I’m worried we will be waiting a while for these fixes.

Yeah no problems with dnf and mistakes in gp mode. To be honest that's less of a killer than the drs thing.

Sometimes there are too many mistakes in gp mode. Usually all at same corner but not a big deal

I actually think the main issue here is the way the ERS has been designed. You almost have to use overtake out of every corner to keep up with the AI, as thats how they use it. It's like a strange corner exit button for them, you can see them use it in replay. There's far too much overtake button available and they use it constantly to exit corners and defend.

Just experienced another race. Verstappen escaped the train and won be a minute. Rest were stuck in it. The ai battle each other too much at the front of the trains. Further back they don't bother at all. The constant side by side stuff slows everyone down and causes the big train of cars to form.  Even when the quickest car is at the front of the train they never pull away. Only thing that breaks up the train is pit stops.

If the ai could stop battling so much at the front of the trains it would become a lot less of a issue as the field would eventually spread out a bit.

Races are way too easy because once you fight through the drs train you can easily pull away while they battle.

It is spoiling the experience from a realistic perspective.

I agree that the way the new ERS system has been implemented/designed could be resulting in these excessive DRS trains.

I'm personally not a fan of it at all. The racing was so much more realistic and enjoyable the way it was.

Do you all think it's because the overtake deployment is too strong? I certainly do. I've seen videos where you can overtake 6 cars on a straight! Which is just ridiculous!

I hope they fix it otherwise the game is broken.

@hartag88 Pretty much sums it up. Had to stop mid race of how boring it was. It's completely killing the experience so far.
  • Yeah it’s definitely the ERS causing the DRS train problem. Hopefully they just revert it back to how it was in f1 23.

They should also have AI mistakes and DNFs like in f1 23 career mode.

at the moment f123 with mods is better than f124

Agreed, they either have to reduce the power of the overtake deployment or drop it altogether in the race. Like I mentioned above. You can overtake 6 cars in one straight. Beyond ridiculous!

@AMPotter19 Its not the ERS causing the trains when the DRS is there from lap 2 and the cars are not even 1s best to worst apart from another and then the AI gets slipstream yet no mattering dirty air + DRS..

The ERS is also just too powerful which should but wont be changed.. And its not too powerful by itself but because the engine power is about 130bhp too low thus ERS makes a bigger difference.
  • I find the issue here is a combination of slipstream / ERS / DRS all being overpowered and a lack of much dirty air effect. This seems to make it almost impossible for an AI or even a human player to get out of DRS of the car behind, even if you get to about 0.8 ahead of the car behind often by the end of a long straight they have caught right back upto you again.

@ma44hew94 It's not only that, it's the teams performance charts as well. The field is too close, they're not spread out enough. RB is just fine, but we have 4 teams super close together, which I can accept even though I feel like McLaren and Ferrari should be a little bit better than Mercedes that should be a little bit better than AM, but the bottom of the grid is not only wrong, because VCARB and Haas are the worst teams, they are not that far from this 4 teams. If Williams, that are the 6th team can get along with the AM's, than the Sauber's that are the 7th (which is ridiculous) can get along too, because they are close to Williams in performance. On top of that, the driver ratings seem to be too close as well. Sargeant is the only one who is clearly far from the rest of the grid, and this make some drivers be faster than they should in some cars.

This is true about team performance. Gaps should be bigger in the race than qualifying too.

The two cars at front of the train forever battling is the biggest thing though..that's why you get stake and williams cars still in battles with top teams throughout despite being a second a lap slower. If the drs train was lapping at full speed it wouldn't be as bad. But they are often a second a lap slower due to battling so any car that does escape.. often just Max at the front.. ends up 50+ seconds up the road
