New discovery! (Kind of)
I have the same problem as the others about “Failed to obtain Origin directory”
I installed F1 24 on an external drive for my desktop, and it works. But when I move it to my laptop, it crashes with that error in event viewer.
So clearly not a game issue, can’t be some kind of file corruption then, something is interfering with the app.
- @Hellolead123jkl i just tried the game by using origin app and it actually works flawlessly so yea its something that has to do with the EA desktop app ☹️
Hey
How did you get it working on origin?
Neither the EA app nor “modified” origin could detect f124.
Thanks
@Hellolead123jkldid you install 'F**** off EA' patch on the origin?
what worked for me is i installed the origin app from 'F**** off EA' gethub
and installed the 'F**** off EA' patch over the origin app
then i waited 2 mins for the file verification and it worked afterwardsyeah haha, not sure if we were allowed to say that.
I downloaded it on steam, how do I verify it?
I can get foffEa again later
thanks!
- @Hellolead123jkl when you are installing the 'F**** off EA' patch there is an option called 'pretend its installed' u wont miss it
this maybe will help you if u have the steam version Oh you mean as in pretend it’s the EA app?
It doesn’t matter, for some reason, of all the ea games i bought, f124 is the only one not showing up on the app no matter what.
- @Hellolead123jkl yea thats weird if i knew something and i didnt get banned from here ill be sure to let you know
Bitdefender Advanced Threath Defense proved to be the issue. Made an exemption for F1_24.exe and YES. FINALLY. The game starts,
Mind you, still think this is a serious issue. Yes, I do now have a working workaround, but the need to disable both Windows CFG protection as Bitdefender ATD protection means to me that the F1 24 application is doing some seriously shady stuff.
I do not want to have to disable security just to run an EA game. That security is there for a reason, especially on a laptop where my 13yo is playing games online with sometimes toxic and abuse people out there.
If this workaround is known, it is just too easy for a malicious party to post a YouTube video titled ‘WORKING F1 24 CRASH FIX’ with instructions to disable these features, added with the instruction to download a malicious version of F1_24.exe.And that is even assuming that EA is not compromised itself, which is also not sure as many companies nowadays are hacked already in the supply chain or code repositories.
So please fix! Now that you should know what the issue is.
- @Hellolead123jkl hey i found out a fix for playing it through ea desktop
you may have done it before but when i tried to uninstall ea desktop i clicked on the repair option instead and it reinstalled EA desktop and the game launched Thanks. I don’t think that’ll work but I’ll give it a shot.
Does the game show up on EA app for you or no?
- @Hellolead123jkl on the EA app? yes it does
Sigh, it doesn't for me.
I'm verifying the integrity of the game files and I don't think it found anything so.
Also foffea didn't help.Iv tried most things, Uninstall reinstall tried Origin woudnt work maybe becasue im on 11 wouldnt close update screen, Tried the Hack they posted no luck, Tried addeding to firewall no luck
funny thing is it was working fine with the trail since purcashe no longer works.
It cant be my PC as it was working fine on trial version.
CPU 7800X3D
GPU 7900XTX
Win 11
Had no issue playing the game.
So what happens do we just wait for fix what you think they offer a refund as i would rather 100AUD in my bank waiting ill buy it when its working.

Hey all,
The Game Team keeps investigating the different issues that have been mentioned in this thread. By now, we have 5 workarounds that have been linked on the first page of the thread. However, some of you still have issues. That's why we will need to gather some information to help with the investigation.
First of all, we will require you to complete the workarounds mentioned here
If you have tried those workarounds and the issues haven't been fixed, we'll need you to answer the questions below:
- Are you on EA app or Steam?
- What is happening when you try to launch the game (freezes, launches but crashes instantly, doesn't do anything, error message...)
- What is the exact message (if any) you are receiving?
- Which other steps have you followed to solve the issue?
- Can you attach a Dxdiag to your message?
- Please, share with us your Error Report ID.

From the Community reported issues thread:
- EA App - Can't open F1 24 | Click for latest EA reply
- The majority of players are able to play F1 24 through EA App, for those who aren't, many of the workarounds linked in the EA reply above have been reported resolving the issue.
NO!
Those workaround do not resolve the issue, the issue is still there. The workaround only makes the issue not occurring, at the expense of most times system security.they should still be resolved.

Steam. - What is happening when you try to launch the game (freezes, launches but crashes instantly, doesn't do anything, error message...)
Game will open past the "press any key" screen, to the gray background, then freeze, sound in the background keeps playing until suddenly the mouse shows up and the game closes.
EAFC24 runs perfectly though, F124 doesn't show on the EA app, but FC24 does. - What is the exact message (if any) you are receiving?
EA app suddenly says "You're in offline mode" when the first splash screen appears. This doesn't happen on another computer where it works fine.
Restarting the app and running the game again does the same thing.
On crash, we get
EAAntiCheatService
Failed to obtain Origin directory
This doesn't happen on the computer where it works. - Which other steps have you followed to solve the issue?
Reinstalling, using unsupported origin app, adding as "non-ea app", disabling all AV, changing registry keys, upgrading windows versions, on the computer where the game runs, downloading the game to a SSD and running from there and all the methods mentioned in this thread.. - Can you attach a Dxdiag to your message?
- Please, share with us your Error Report ID.

- Are you on EA app or Steam?
I use the steam version
When I launch it, the anti-cheat window appears, then the window disappears, the game does not start, no errors
I tried all the solutions from this thread. The problem is observed when the game is released

They are still investigating it, but the workaround is temporary. The team needs to know if the workarounds are working to understand where to start tackling the issue. It is also useful to see if it is not working for other people to see if new issues affect the players.

To perhaps assist some who may be having the same issue as myself also: if your CPU does not support AVX instructions, then you will not be able to run the game.
This is expected, but at the time of writing it's unfortunately not listed in system specs exactly - but this is not something that can be worked around without upgrading CPU.
As such, I'd you find your CPU model on its manufacturer's website and determine whether it has the "extended avx instruction set" feature or not, it will help you to determine whether you actually can run the game.
Most CPU models after 2012 or so will have this, but it's worth confirming.
If your CPU doesn't have it, either switch CPU, or refund the game are your only options currently.
I solved the problem this way: first I start F1 23, once opened I close it and start F1 24. This procedure allows me to start F1 24 without problems.
Probably the problem is that a temporary file necessary for the game to function is not present in F1 24, which is instead present in F1 23. Therefore, once F1 23 has been started and the temporary file has been created, it will then also work for F1 24 .
I hope this solution can help you solve the problem. 🙂Hey, thanks for shedding some light.
But I just ran a benchmark on the computers that didn't work and it said:
MMX,SSE-SSE4.2,EM64T,AES,AVX,AVX2,AVX512,FMA3,SHA. However, that may be the case for certain older computers.
Those running on 12th gen Intel Cores, Intel has apparently been disabling AVX on some CPUs. It's worth checking just in case.
To check, download CPU-Z
When you open it, look under instructions for anything like AVX, AVX2 or AVX512.I am still having issues with launching this * hole of a game, everytime I feel like playing f124 I cant cause it either crashes when the anti cheat launches or when load into the main menu
I am so * sick of this *
I want a refund
