@IanM282I'm afraid the are not. It's not in the list on current problems that they are aware. Thats why I created this post hoping that someone from EA will see this

@EA_Vendcera Hey. Can you take a look at this issue?

Hey folks,
that definitely seems like pretty weird AI behaviour. I've passed it along to the team to lock into this.
It sounds more of a broader issue, but as usual, if you could please include your Report Code and any further details about the issue, that would be helpful!-Vendcera

Product: F1 24
Platform:PlayStation 5
Please specify your platform model. Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition
Summarize your bug AI fuel is always 6.0 kg, race or qualy
What is your 16 digit Report Code?
What peripherals are you using? Please list the exact make and model.
Can you please provide the name of your current internet service provider?
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Single Player
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a race and verify the fuel of the AI
What happens when the bug occurs? in qualy i go like AI in the race the AI go 2 Sec faster than me
What do you expect to see? a solution
Ai is always with 6.0 kg of fuel and they go 2sec faster than me with no reason
- TexiPL11 months agoSeasoned Traveler@EA_Vendcera I don't know how to include report Code but as I mentioned on the beggining. AI are very slow during qualification. It's looks for me that they don't whole awalible ERS and don't use overtake button. After that during race they are very fast and all race I'm losing positions which is not fun.

Is it possible that you're all using extreme set-ups, i.e. top of the time trial leaderboards? As they will give you great qualifying pace but will be terrible in a race as they would destroy your tyres far faster than the AI.
Same here w/ this. Standard #3 setup, happens on both career & Grand Prix mode, racing at 75 level. Qualify top 10 finish bottom 5.
- TexiPL11 months agoSeasoned Traveler@DRudd13 Not really. I tested it by using top time trial set ups, recomended preset and race set up I found on youtube. The race setup from YouTube was the best but still AI was a way to fast during race

Regardless of any setups, the AI in qualifying are way too slow compared to the race.
@EA_Vendcera Here is a Report Code from a quali/race session at Bahrain today: TAAG-TJJS-XTAK-VSEC
The dev team should be able to see the lap times: Both quali and race top lap times are sitting in the 1:33.6 range in BOTH quali and the race. During the race however, the fuel loads should be MUCH higher than quali, and the AI should be seeing their pace slow down, same as the player. So, while the player is slowing down from the fuel load in the race, the AI isn't. Furthering my suspicion regarding fuel loads, the issue doesn't seem to be as noticeable in F2, where fuel load is fixed.
EDIT: Here's another Report Code from a session at Jeddah with a totally different outcome as before: STCE-KHAA-JEER-EXCD
This one had top quali times around 1:34.2 and the race was in the 1:36.5 range. So, this one appeared to see pace drop as expected. Is this a track-by-track issue?
EDIT 2: Here's a 3rd Report Code from Australia: RXBP-XMRT-GAET-ABAD
Top quali time was a 1:21.1 on softs, top race time was a 1:22.3ish on mediums. So, pace appears maaaaaaybe similar here as well between quali and race when factoring in the tire compound difference and use of DRS/ERS.

Hey everyone,
could you please also confirm what type of Qualifying session you were on? So, for example, if it was One Shot Qualifying, Short Qualifying or Full Qualifying?
Thanks for all your info so far. The team is still investigating, and I'll keep you updated once I know more.

I honestly don't think what type of qualifying session it is matters in my experience.
I can definitely say the AI are too slow in a full and short session. I never do a one shot qualifying.
For me the reason is pointing to the fact that as a player we now have the option to use the overtake deployment in all types of qualifying, which depending on the track can give the player a huge advantage over the AI as I believe this is something AI don't use? Or if they do then not to it's full potential?
I personally much preferred it when the overtake deployment option was not available in qualifying and just used solely for practice and the race.
I don't understand why the overtake deployment option was implemented into qualifying as we never had this before?
As a general rule of thumb, I'm on average around half a second to one second a lap faster than the AI on most tracks on my difficulty setting.
Then come the races they are the same speed as me. It makes the whole experience so completely unrealistic.
Some may say the answer is not to use the overtake deployment then. To be honest I think that will be the outcome. But to be absolutely honest even using the hotlap deployment only, the AI still struggle to challenge still at times.
I'm really happy this is being looked into. I just hope that if any adjustments are implemented going forward the balance is correct.
I started Career with Williams, Full qualifying all the way through i’ve just started at imola and i’m getting top 3 on medium ERS. I’m not great and have played 94 for the last few years and only just put it to 95. But like I say, I can qualify top 3 in full qualifying but then i’ll finish near the bottom at end of the race. I’ve done a few tests, using no battery for example and I will come 20th in qualifying.
- TexiPL11 months agoSeasoned Traveler@EA_Vendcera For me it's Full Qualifying and 50% Race. But on other options I could see the same patern. Slow in Quali and to Fast in race
@EA_Vendcera All of my sessions are full qualifying.
Yep, same problem. Full qualifying, 100% race.
That's why I always drive with AI difficulty plus 5 in qualifying compared to the race to compensate for it. Really annoying- bigsimmah11 months agoNew Novice
The main problem is that overtake mode should not be available in quali, instead hot lap mode should deploy the whole battery evenly over the lap. This issue has been noted since Beta #1 and it's frankly ridiculous that nothing has been done to fix it!
To read now that AI does not use overtake mode whatsoever, it makes perfect sense as to why the AI is so relatively weak in Q yet strong in the race. The only solution at present is to stick to hot lap mode only during qualifying against AI, which should at least make the whole thing a bit more realistic.

I'm finding in grand prix mode it is the opposite. Qualifying is harder than the race. It is easy to come through to front in the race. Partly due to the silly ers drs trains but also the ai pace is nothing special. Bizarre reading people having complete opposite experience. Haven't tried career though
- hartag8811 months agoSeasoned Adventurer@hartag88 This is on 100% race and full qualy
It's happening to me in full qualifying and sprints. The Ai gain 1 second on straights at china and Miami every lap constant ers and so much speed. I'm coming top 3 in quali yet can't keep up with or hold anyone behind as they are so fast and have unlimited ERS.
The new ers system is a really bad addition and the ai are again broken because of it the ai were too fast in a straight line a few years ago and it's managed to be reintroduced.
Ers in qualifying isn't right I can be in hotlap and gain Ers flat out on a straight and even with using some overtake the full lap deployment isn't used.
It urgently needs fixing like a lot of the other issues some which have been improved even if not perfect it's better than it was.
- hartag8811 months agoSeasoned Adventurer
I don't have any straight line speed issues against ai at all.. on 100 ai.
Maybe race distance has a effect but certainly not encountering any of this at 100% races
- Simple answer and i've not seen people mention it enough....
The ai don't use overtake/battery in qualifying
Only use hotlap in quali and you'll get a true pace/difficulty reference.
Personally feel overtake shouldn't be deployable in quali and it'll cure alot of issues. - IanM28211 months agoSeasoned Ace@bigsimmah Agreed, the overtake deployment should not have been added to this year's game in qualifying.
Such a bizarre thing to do that is now causing a lot of problems. - EA_Vendcera11 months ago

Hey all,
thanks for all the extra info, folks!
It seems to be indeed related to the AI not fully utilizing ERS during quali laps. The developers are looking into a potential solution!
I'll keep you updated, as soon as we have more info to share.-Vendcera
Thanks @EA_Vendcera !
I like the idea of just forcing all the cars to be in Hotlap ERS mode for the duration of quali. Seems like the simplest solution.
