For years I'd not been too bothered by Classic Cars.
I thought they made a proper fist of it back in like 2013, especially with the tracks too, but I never really enjoyed the 2013 game because i'd had alot of fun on 2012 and never got the same high with 2013 so I didn't embrace it. Then a few years later, they came back and I honestly couldn't have cared as I didn't really do time trial. The consensus was that I was in a majority as the statistics said they were barely used and therefore they got shelved.
I'm now in the lull between games so if I do ever go on the game then it's either grand prix mode which can be a little samey, or time trial with the F1 25 cars and it's not especially exciting and i've been hankering for the classic cars again! It's time! I also thought the same thing about it being an anniversary edition so it would be a good opportunity to implement them, even if it's for the one year. I don't see it happening though.
I'm not sure what type of classic cars i'd want to see though. I felt like the old type (say Hunt's McLaren-era) just never really got used so i'd say Senna's Marlboro McLaren to the Brawn / Vettel's Red Bull is probably the era window of what people would use? However, it's a little repetitive as it's always the same cars. The late 90's McLarens and Williams, early 00's Ferrari and mid 00's Renault. I'd secretly be pleased if they went with the less successful cars.
A Minardi. The BAR with the zipper livery. A Jaguar. That god-awful Williams papyrus thing from like 2004. A Toyota. The Caterham with the indecent nose. The late 90's cars that had those ridiculous X-Wing things.
Something different, but not necessarily fast. I don't think people would go for that though. I imagine the chrome McLarens, the 00s Ferraris and the Mild Seven Renault are where the interest would be.
I do think it's a missed opportunity to not have them this year but they'll be back eventually, when they've run out of new stuff to implement and need something to shoehorn in for marketing purposes.
