EA's relentless push to sell EA Play really getting on my nerves.
Today I received a new graphics card I bought, so the first game I opened to try it on was the one I play the most, F1 25, especially to test the pathtracing, which was impossible with my old 4060 Ti 16 GB.
First, I had to deal with the typical annoyances proper of this game, like starting in one quarter of the screen because if there's a new driver version, or a new card, it defaults to 1920x1080 in windowed mode, even though I never ever never whatsoever set it to that resolution and windowed mode. That takes an Alt+Tab twice to fix.
Also, even though I have the option -novr set (because for some idiotic reason this game thinks that every time you open it, you might've bought a VR headset, so each and every time it will ask you to open the normal version, or the VR one), when it updates automatically and then opens, it opens without any regard to that option.
But that those are just momentary annoyances. The one that irks me to no end is EA trying to push EA play each and every time I open the game, even if I open it 5 times in an hour. Because I was testing this new card, and there are some video settings that can't get applied without restarting the game, I had to close it and open it several times. The game itself takes forever to load, but then, each and every time it loads the main screen, the typical F1 25 swoosh screen goes to the promo screen, to try to sell you EA Play ONE MORE FREAKING TIME!!!!!
This is how you make people turn against your brand. Your marketing people must be terrible at their jobs, because if they think that I will start paying 10 bucks a month to get yet another subscription just because you annoy me every time I want to play the game I paid $68 for, you're very mistaken. If anything, you're making sure I will never get EA Play, and if I do, it will be the version that comes with the Microsoft PC Game Pass, because guess what? Every time I launch Forza Horizon 4 or 5, or Forza Motorsport, when it gets to the welcome screen, it doesn't swoosh and tries to sell me the Game Pass. I can launch those games 1,000,000 and not once I will have to put up with Microsoft trying to sell me their version of EA Play.
So you could learn a lesson from Microsoft and stop annoying the hell out of people that paid a lot of money for your new game.
