Greetings and here's a question for the creative direction of this game.
So many years, creative innovation was missed on one side : car model visual customization, similar to Need For Speed,
but proper to a serious and AAA F1 game.
The concept of a "Myteam car model customizer" could offer the player the following options about
how they customize their Myteam car:
- car nose and front suspension style( pushrod vs pullrod; aggressive pullrod(MCL39 nose), medium pullrod(RB21, RB20 noses), standard pullrod(SF25 nose) );
- rear suspension style (pushrod vs pullrod )
- halo style;
- steering wheel style(sauber C44 s.wheel, RB21 s.wheel, etc)
- front/rear wing style;
- engine cover style;
- sidepod style;
- engine cover style;
Why not think about it and implement it for once in F1 25's Myteam 2.0 ? Or can it be expected with a
Myteam 2.5? Myteam 3.0?
Hey there,
Gavin is currently having issues with his forum account, so I'll be posting his answers on his behalf, so we don't keep you waiting 😄
The design goal for car customisation this year was to give players the tools to create cars/liveries that looked as though they could stand alongside the official roster of cars and not look out of place. And ultimately, giving the players more tools to work with decals was going to do more to help us in that direction than changing the shape of the car, given the limitations of the previous decal system. It was that old decal system more than anything that held players back from being as creative as they wanted to be, and that ensured that everyone's liveries were essentially restricted to a common layout - one that didn't really match what the real cars looked like. If we'd chosen to pursue changing the shape of the car instead, that would have had value, for sure - but those different shaped cars using the old decal system would still have stuck out like a sore thumb against the official cars/liveries.
Being able to go further and adjust the shape of the car is something that we've discussed internally more than once - but for F1 25 it wasn't the most effective way to meet players' expectations of the customisation system.
