Not Enough Depth or Detail In F1 Video Games

So another year goes by without the ability to create your own driver, we still have no pre-season test, no signs of old tracks being added and overall a complete lack of detail in career mode, we're once again forced to use pre-made avatar's on a video game in 2025, why is this the case? you look at any other game with customization including the EA franchise itself and they all have the ability to create your own character but not in F1 games? a big focus needs to go into the detail and depth of F1 games because it's extremely simple, there's so many things regarding customisation that we still lack in the F1 games sadly, we really need a big overhaul regarding it all going forward, please stop focusing on silly gimmicks like reverse tracks and Braking Point and start putting some effort into making F1 games far more detailed and true to the real sport.

- Ability to completely start from scratch to make our custom drivers, fine tune them to how we want them to look with a good amount of options to choose from for hair, beards, detailed facial options to customise, skin profiles etc, having real base helmets (Bell etc) for each team to customise with the correct sponsorships that the team you want to race for has and weight and height which can have impacts in other areas, so much can be done with a good custom driver creator.
- A proper pre-season testing period where you can either choose to simulate or take part it as it would open up a huge amount of interesting ways to start the season, things like getting upgrades and such prepared for the first race of the season, getting an idea of the performance of the teams (S2 onwards) stress testing things especially if there's been a regulation change the season before maybe you need to test certain upgrades etc plus so much more.
- The ability to have upgrades, wind tunnel and other parts of the car to run into problems throughout the season like we see in real life so having to go backwards before going forwards again but can be turned off or less serious in the simulation settings.
- Changes of scenery instead of the same old team HQ at the tracks, we want to be able to walk around the paddocks and interact with other drivers, teams, fans and media, another chance at creating some extremely interesting situations and could open up a world of possibilities, like creating either good or bad reputations depending on what you do on the track and in the paddock, how you interact with other drivers and teams could impact potential team moves or future teammates and rivals, we want to feel immersed in the F1 world because it creates so much drama and interest on and off the track and having a live paddock could really do so much for the game, remember the old F1 games where you had your own motorhome and could move around, go outside for interviews, why don't we have interactions with the media anymore? another place where a lot of storylines and situations could arise especially when you put everything together with a social and media centre so rumours and rivalries etc can build interesting storylines all this could also impact the AI drivers and how they drive on the track
- Regarding the AI drivers there needs to be more personality from them, they all do the same things, we want to see individual styles of drivers, drivers like Max should be aggressive and willing to do anything to win on and off the track, drivers like Lewis are more methodical and wait for the right moments to launch an attack, we should have drivers who are better at certain driving characteristics like saving tyres, overtaking etc which is what I thought the rating system was supposed to do but it does nothing on track.
- Choosing our own calendars and putting whatever tracks we want where we want them, why don't we have old tracks being added to the F1 games like Hockenheim, Istanbul Park, Paul Ricard, Seapang, Nürburgring etc, so many great tracks we could be using in the F1 games so we can fully customise the seasons to how we want them

I've had so many good idea's but that's some of the ones I could think about off the top of my head overall there's a HUGE potential with F1 games but we never see it reached, so much simplicity and inability to create a product that shows just what it's really like to live the life of an F1 driver, I really hope as we go forward we see a lot more, if anyone else has any ideas please feel free to comment!

  • you are absolutely right for everything. But it is easier and cheaper to copy and paste. That`s why we have basically the same game year by year.

    more minor things to add:

    • original HUD
    • control in the pit lane
    • dynamic track evolution (from wet to dry or vice versa, with drying racing line f.e like in Grand Prix 4)
    • flags of all countries + national anthems at the podium
    • track marshal and cranes (one again like Grand Prix Game >20 years ago!!!)
    • mechanical failures, chance to return to the pit or stop the car instead of having the grey black screen out of race.
    • simulation for AI (Tyre temp & degradation, ERS, fuel etc), because at this point it is just a cosmetic thing without real calculation and simulation.

Thats why there is no need to buy this game annually.
