If I buy F1 2022 on Steam, can I play with my friend who bought it on Origin ?

Origin and Steam will not be able to play online together. When crossplay is introduced later in development, then all platforms can play together in supported crossplay modes (Social Play and Two-Player Career modes)

Thank god my third party vendor gave me a refund, so that I could buy it on Steam. Was €10 more pr copy, but totally worth actually being able to play with my firends.
It's obviously totally unacceptable that this wasn't highlighted as important information right from the start.
Pre-ordering is bad for consumers and the more people who start to refuse to do so the better IMHO.
Who the hell thought it was a good idea to split pc people ? Really ..... workshop, league, time trial. this doesn't make sense. And at the top of it, you didn't even warn people who pre ordered. EA doing EA stuff. Every games you touch is a nightmare, like BF.
Yea this is ridiculous. Tried to request a refund through the great games guarantee but they said **Certain game editions that include virtual currency packs are excluded from the Great Game Guarantee.
Everyones preorder includes at least 5000 pitcoin so this is ridiculous. My confirmation email also said the game was eligible for GGG. Honestly don't give a F*** about the pitcoin just wanna refund and purchase on steam.
Another EA robbery. Introduce a feature that literally does baits people into thinking they can refund and then not having crossplay on day one.
@EA_rephiiis just the messenger, and I do not envy the situation EA put they in having to deliver such a farfetched excuse for this anti-consumer measure from corporate.
Origin and Steam are glorified storefronts, basically. The product being commercialized there is a PC software.
This stance go against the grain of the whole videogame industry: crossplay is widely defined as being able to share features between consoles and PC, not between mere PC storefronts.
I'm in no position to deny there needing some work to enable consumers who got their PC software license from different vendors to play together, but to say that this is a byproduct of not having the true crossplay feature together is a straight up lie to our faces and a huge disservice to the developers.
This is an anti-consumer business decision, just that.
To give an idea. On Origin 1596 players are ranked for Miami time trial, 7600 on steam.
Well at least i might be able to get higher up the leaderboard this year 😂 seriously this is shocking though. I was going to buy on origin as its considerably cheaper than steam. Guess this is why…

@EA_rephii you've gone super quiet since you ruined our day yesterday. Don't you think there's something that needs to be addressed? Like, for example, that you guys lured us onto ea play pro and/or origin then literally bent us over and slapped in the back?
Come on, time to face your idiotic decisions and you being the community manager should be responsible for a dialogue between us and this joke of a company.
