@ScarDuck14 Can I just check mate...do you only restart practice sessions after drag upgrades or do you restart qualifying and race sessions as well ?
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend
@Lwilson97As a rule now I restart sessions whenever I remember to. Don’t trust the game to be on the level and restarting sessions definitely seems to work a lot off the time

Ah ok, so it's a known issue? I don't understand how they did not figure that out previously when they were making the performance patch. I actually did notice it I think around august last year, but then I stopped playing the game because I hated how the car was handling. Now I made some mods to the tyre wear and it seems to have fixed the problems I had with the car suddenly snapping on me mid race, even though it still happens sometimes. I increased the front tyre wear by 12.5 percent and also modded the rear tyres to heat up a little less by 5 percent. The car feels so much better when the tyres degrades evenly.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@ImpartialCross06 It’s a little known issue that I think codemasters hope that no one would notice. So they don’t have to fix it. As it never has got fixed.
Could also be by design. Placebo so to speak. As problem with a fully maxed car last year made it a pain in the rear to control - DonBlanko3 years agoSeasoned Scout
Oh damn.. there are so much things to do to keep the game playable in career.
In F1 2020 and 2021 there was a bug, that the AI seems to become faster the more the cars become upgraded too. Thats why we had to lower down the AI by 2 or 3 Points after each season, to keep the AI level on your own level.
Is this bug still in F1 2022 by the way?
Now we also have to restart ever session.. good that you've find a solution for it. I didn't buy F1 2022 because I read about too much bugs.
Now we can be sure that this bug will by transfered in F1 2023 too. How do you solve the problem in coop careers? I mean there is no solution to restart a session if I remember correctly.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@DonBlanko Not sure it can. But then I don’t play co-op 😔

Seriously? I mean I had a break for a few months, but F1 season brought me back and it is cool to be back after a few Updates. But this workaround is new for me 😄 yesterday I was in Abu Dhabi, Q1 out, then restart session, made it to Q3. Is that a known and serious taken issue? The I lost a couple of qualy's because of that.
Same I did in the race, restart directly and finished 4th , started at 10th.
So this workaround you all do actually?
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@svensen86 Yup❤️
- svensen863 years agoRising Scout
Just to be on the same Page,e.g. we mean Qualy start, you press options Button and restart Session. Same for every Session you need your "updated" car. So most important qualy and race. In race right after the start you restart it badically?
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@svensen86 Yup just Restart session. Pretty sure it just relates to drag upgrades. But with this game you can never tell🤷🏻♂️
I'm just at season 1. But my problem is like this. Drive out to do some laps and test the setup.
Setup feels fine, lets do the "Practice programs"
Starts the quali program, the car should be on steriods at this point!
But I am 3-5km/h slower.
Same with "Race strategy"
So I drive out again for a "free run", the speed is back :/
Same in the race itself. Slow
So for me it dosent happen when I go to a new GP or gets new upgrades.
Changes in the same session, and when I am testing the setup, I restart the session many times.
But thinking about it I havent restarted the session when I started a program. Will check that! :D
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@morphan86 You will be slower in race due to high fuel load. But. Qualifying you should be dancing. I’d try restarting qualifying session and see if that works.
- @ScarDuck14 Yeah, that I know. But in "quali program" I should fly, but are slower. I started to think that maybe it is that "Low fuel mode" that kicks in and lower the top speed? I dont know how low the fuel level needs to be to get the effect of that option, I have it on "Easy". But I think I tested to fuel up for 5or6 laps instead of 4, still no effect......
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@morphan86 Can’t help you with Qualifying. Fuel should be fine. I play my team and my car is significantly better than the rest off the field. So I do one shot qualifying so gives me more jeopardy. Only having one lap to get it right means more change off me finishing down the grid.
- @ScarDuck14 will try and restart session when I have started a proram now. Thanks for your time! Have a good one meanwhile!
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@morphan86 Your welcome 🙏
- @ScarDuck14 Re installed the game, and I actually think it fixed the problem...But I will see when I get the "quali practice program".
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@morphan86 I also do a fresh reinstall from time to time including nuking my all my game save data. I feel it works especially after a large patch. Maybe a placebo. But it works for me 💪👍

Hmm, that was weird. At first I thought it might be that when you do normal practice programs you can use overtake rather than hotlap, which should
be around 3-6 km/h faster because overtake uses 100 percent of the ERS power, hotlap 60 percent and standard only 15 percent. But since
you mention that you are also slower in "Race strategy" that's really weird. I will test if this is something I never noticed.
I never even do the practice programs anymore, have grown tired of them over the years. It might also work as you say to restart the practice programs.
I do not think it can be lean fuel mixture suddenly kicking in because that will only give you 90 percent of the engine power which I'm quite certain
should be more than 3-5 km/h.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@ImpartialCross06 I noticed this on last years game. Posted about it over at codemasters forum. Top end speed during practice was massive compared to Race.

Yes, I remember the AI becoming faster and faster the more you upgraded the car in previous versions and to be honest I'm not even certain if this is still in
the game or not because I feel the difficulty is so all over the place that I can't even tell. To me it seems they have added some kind of variability to the level of AI
even at the same difficulty. Which if they have done this I think it's really bad because people are more consistent on the level they're at than they think.
In the FIFA games they have something similar were sometimes playing on professional they AI suddenly can play as they were 1 or 2 levels above the difficulty
you're at. I think this kinda work for a football game in the sense that you can't control all players on the field but I would hate it if they implement this.
I stopped buying FIFA because of this dynamic difficulty thing because it's nerfs your players and make them feel sluggish to control which is a pain in the ***!
Anyhow, I think the AI drivers should be able to vary in their performance but I think this variance should be fairly minor and only be a consistency attribute on drivers themselves rather
than the whole field varying together on the same difficulty. Preferably they would have an attribute for how often the AI driver perform at their top level and another attribute for
how much they could drop from their top level in milliseconds.
The reason I think there is some kind of variability on the AI is that I can the life of me not even come close to setting the difficulty right in this years game. At least in the previous
editions of the game I knew which tracks the AI always was good at and could plan accordingly by lowering the level and increasing the difficulty. There is certainly still
varying by the AI from track to track but there seems to be something even more than this this year. So I find it hard to even tell if they improve from year to year like previously.

@ImpartialCross06There’s a number off reasons why the Ai feels all over the place in this years game.
Firstly by design Codemasters make the Ai harder year on year. I set the Ai 10-20 points Lower compared to last year. This year has definitely seen a bigger jump.
Also Tyre temps. Ai are not effect the same way human drivers are. Mainly they are not effect by carcass temps. So if you set tyre temps to carcass and surface. Ai always have their temps at optimal. Human players are significantly handicapped on tracks where managing temps is an issue. Such as Hungary where they melt or in wet conditions where it takes humans forever to heat up the tyres . Personally I just use surface only now so I’m on a level playing field to the Ai on every track. And don’t need to adjust the Ai.
As for Ai on being funky in other occasions there’s another thread that explains that brb I’ll go and find it - ImpartialCross063 years agoRising Traveler@ScarDuck14 Oh, that's really bad and really weird. I wonder what's happening. Do we get more upgrades on practice sessions or something? I never noticed this. But then in theory practice sessions should be easier not harder than specially the race, in qualifying I feel the AI is already good. But from what I remember the practice programs were generally harder than the race.
I think one of the reasons practice programs is so hard especially qualifying programs is that they compare you with the times of the other teams around you. Let's say you are the 9 best car in my team and your car is 5 tenths slower than 8 best team (green) and lets say a second behind the 6-7 best car (purple). This is obviously rarely the case that you are that far behind the cars in front of you but it can happen and they still expect you to beat those times. And in practice there is less grip which is were I find the AI to be better than we as Human can perform. - ImpartialCross063 years agoRising Traveler@ScarDuck14 Yeah, I really hope they don't make it any harder this next year, hehe. But they probably will. I know about the tyre temps they always seem to be on 96 degrees for the AI, that's why on pc I just modded 100 percent grip on all temperatures both on carcass and surface. Because I feel even if you play with fixed carcass temperature the surface temperature can still skyrocket mid corner and you can lose the car which I find really annoying. At least in this years game they added modifier that when you do downforce upgrades the tyres also get better temperature management so in theory the tyres should not overheat more when you upgrade you car more if they balanced it right. I don't understand why they don't add an option to also disable surface temperature.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@ImpartialCross06 I’m on PS5 so don’t get such luxuries 😂
