Yes this is precisely what I am facing as well. All the players are ghosted when your are near them. Sure I can discuss this, Do you know any solutions so far?
Can you inform the reason why this is happening?
@IcyElixer21 wrote:Can you inform the reason why this is happening?
I watched your video earlier in the week and what you're seeing isn't normal and I don't think is affecting all PS4 players. I play on PS5 and it doesn't do this to me. An audio message in your clip spoke about a safety car when there wasn't one so something odd was going on. I can only think of two things worth trying as a user which might make a difference which is to uninstall and reinstall the game, and to try a fresh game save. To do the latter you can save your current save to a memory stick (or to the cloud if you have PS+), delete the save file from your console and then launch the game.
- @Ultrasonic_77 Okay I will give it a try and let you know what happens
Hi IcyElixer21,
I too take my driving very seriously. I have all assists off but still use 3D driving line.
I am not a techie, but here is my opinions on ghosting.
-Social play, ghosting is on, but if you create your own you are able to turn ghosting off (see pic), but I don't know how long till someone joins the session? If someone does join, are they a good or bad driver? You will probably be racing against the AI anyway, defeats the purpose of racing online then.
-Ranked play, ghosting is on, no arguements, see pic.
I no longer am interested in either.
If you set up a League you can turn ghosting off. I set up 2 leagues for "Expert Drivers" (the top 20% of drivers) with ghosting off but no-one joined, I did one race and got the achievement of "Driving Clique" "Complete a League race" "2.2% of players have this achievement". The largest amount of people I have seen in a "race weekend" is 5025 at Imola. I want to race with the top 20% that is 1005 people, but only 2.2% race in a league, so that is 22 possible people out there who I want in my league. I gave up on league, but if you are a good driver and interested in league I would be happy to race with you! Ghosting off! Perhaps we could find others.
I enjoy Race Weekends, but....
I used to be in iRacing but I am addicted to F1 22 now.
Have you raced in iRacing?
In iRacing seasons allow you to race as many times as you like over the week and they average out your results with an algorythm. In most (all) races of Formula Vee there is a multiple pile up at the first corner. Unless you can get pole race is effectively gone. Maybe bad averages too.
In F1 22 you get 1 shot at it! If you come back to race again in a race weekend there are penalties. Not sure what, I haven't done that yet.
So, from the video I hope you looked at;
There are good drivers mixed in with bad drivers, there aren't the numbers to have all good drivers together. I get a bad start because I have assisted start disabled (that is my excuse! but it does happen regularly). The very first corner we are 2 wide and someone behind tries to go through the middle. If ghosting is off that is 2 cars doing the right thing and leaving space taken out. Weekend gone! Fair?In lap 2 I overtake on the inside, now I know the driver I pass is a good driver because they leave space for me. I could have been a bit more to the right and maybe equally I think the driver I passed could have been a bit more to the left. Stewards would have to make that decision. If the ghosting wasn't there I would have been spun around, weekend gone! Fair?
In lap 12 I pass ghost through a back marker, who consistently ignored the blue flag. If I lose time having to pass properly I lose points and drop down the weekend rankings. Fair? Same thing on the final lap, back marker will not yield!
It is my guess that F1 22 make allowances, but do also punish bad driving. I have been rammed on occasion when I have left enough room, but the driver who rammed me lost their front wing. I was undamaged and I think that is fair.
Does that make sense? Any thoughts?
Want to join a league with me?
Allan
P.S. I posted a comment on your YouTube Video
Hi Ultrasonic 77,
I didn't see your post before my last reply.
I play on a computer through Steam, with steering wheel and pedals.
Do you play the PS5 with a steering wheel and pedals? or a gamepad?
Because if you are playing with a gamepad, it might go a long way to explaining why some cars bounce around as ghosts, like in the video at the first corner. In my opinion the car that ghosts through me at the first corner is not steering consistently. I think it might look like consistently hitting the left and right arrow (do gamepads use arrows?). All the other cars in front have more consistent lines because they have a steering wheel? Maybe?

I play with a wheel and pedals. Players who use a controller are still perfectly capable of telling if ghosting is on when it shouldn't be though.
Re. your league comments above you should note that huge numbers of F1 leagues don't use the in-game league functionality, but rather host their races in social lobbies. Using game trophy stats for league participation will therefore likely be a significant underestimate.
- @AllanWeigand Hello, I have found a solution to cars ghosting recently. All you have to do is disable crossplay in settings and the ghosting issue goes away in most lobbies. I believe this is a crossplay issue as this is F1 first crossplay game however they should fix it as I am only able to play with players on PlayStation which is a small player base compared to both Xbox and PC combined. Try disabling crossplay and search of lobbies that have either an orange or green network status bar it should work. I would like to join a league however when I play on crossplay I experience the ghosting issue.
Try and find a league that is PC based
icy - @AllanWeigand I play on the controller and I use the right analogue stick to steer

icyFor info when I tested this myself I had crossplay enabled, so I'm still a bit confused by your experience but glad you've found a way for things to work better for you.
Hi IcyElixer21,
Thanks for letting me know. I am glad you found a solution. But I am like Ultrasonic 77, a little confused. But unlike Ultrasonic 77 my crossplay has always been off. But for the Weekly Event - Grand Prix I am glad the ghosting is there.
Cheers Allan.
I am inspired to go and have another look at online races with the orange or green network status. Cheers.
Hi Ultrasonic 77,
Thank you for your post. You are a Champion, so you must know your stuff, and thank you for taking the time to answer queries, I am sure you have helped alot of people. I am not a techie and have 2 or 3 other problems with F1 22 software, but I have never reached out because I have felt I wouldn't get an answer, but seeing Champion contributors like yourself, well maybe I could get an answer. This week I am going to put my queries to the Technical issues people. I would love it if you could take a look.
Regarding what you said about leagues. Firstly, I know I am not great at explaining myself and I think you may have misunderstood what I meant. I don't understand "in-game league functionality, but rather host their races in social lobbies".
-I don't want to use the league stats.
-I want to use the "Weekly Event - Grand Prix" Trophies
-I called my League Expert Pro or Elite and I wanted to see Trophies like the pics I have attached, before anyone could join the league.
-I think it would have worked, if I had the patience to wait, don't you?
-In fact I did find a league called "Elite" but I didn't like the settings, I think I might join that league and ask if the settings could be changed slightly.
Thanks Ultrasonic, I have been inspired to do a couple of things today.

Sorry, I was referring to the above when I mentioned "game trophy stats". I play on PlayStation where what you called "achievements" are called "trophies". My point was that more people race in F1 leagues than the achievement you'd looked at suggests i.e. more than your 2.2%. If I were to set up a league myself I would not use the league option in the game, as I know that most experienced players wouldn't as it doesn't work very well. Instead, leagues are typically managed outside of the game but the actual races are hosted in private social lobbies. Does that make sense?
For info. I believe an important reason that crossplay was prioritised for social lobbies was precisely because this is where league races typically happen.
Re. being a Champion, note I'm just someone who plays the F1 games and I try to help where I can.
- @Ultrasonic_77 Yes you are right, almost everyone organizes racing leagues via Discord, facebook, and many more. This is the link for the main F1 discord: https://discord.gg/z8U5s8cF
I would like to thank both of you on helping me resolve this issue @Allan hopefully disabling cross play should work
Hi Ultrasonic 77
I did understand that. That did make sense. 'Private social lobbies' left me cold and and unloved....
But apparently there is something called Discord! I mean who knew? (probably everyone but me lol)
Re; Being a champion. I think you are being modest, you must have posted a lot of help for people that worked to become a champion. A lot of the questions asked I have no idea about. You are probably a bit of a Techie? Volunteers of the world make the world go round, and I appreciated your help for me and others. Thank you.
Cheers

Hi IcyElixer21,
Cheers, I am happy to try and help.
Disabling cross play didn't work for me, but that is ok for now. (I will find out more when I join a league on Discord, probably, they are 'private social lobbies'? that will be the test)
I must be the only person not on facebook but Discord....wow, I'm on that now. I'm not gonna say it will change my life, but it is gonna change how I play F1 22 (if I can find the right league). I typed in 'Leagues' in the search bar 280 leagues came up. I read about 8 of them some have real prize money, some have commentators and live streaming... I mean seriously... that sounds like being a real F1 driver (Ha). I am gonna take a week to learn how to weed out some of them.
So, thanks for the heads up!
Discord!
Allan.
- @AllanWeigand Hello Allan,
Try to find a league that is based on your respective platform (which I believe is PC). Fingers crossed it should work.
Icy - @AllanWeigand HAHA I know right this pretty much esports. I found a league which may suit you can try it out if you want.

@AllanWeigand wrote:...they are 'private social lobbies'?
Think I've lead to some confusion...
In the Multiplayer tab in the game there is a Social Play option. If you go in here you can then select Create Custom Game, and it gives the option to create a lobby that is 'Invite Only'. This is what somebody setting up a league race will do, only sending invites to players that are part of the league. This is what I meant by "Private Social Lobbies". They are private in that only those with an invite are able to join.

Hey look at that I can quote!Hi IcyElixer21,
I found a... well I don't think it;s a league... a Discord Server... 'Valhalla Motorsport | F1'. I pressed the 'Relevant' button and it was the first one. Run by "Bernie Ecclestone" (I doubt it's the real one). but they have 490 members (I wonder if all are drivers? or spectators? or what?) anyway 490 drivers is 22 leagues of 22 people. The Server is telling me to "PLEASE REACT TO THE RULES TO GAIN FULL ACCESS TO SERVER". I am gonna read all the help section for Discord tonight. I saw somewhere that the Valhalla Server is using 'F1 21', but it is PC so I am on the right track, thank you!
Part of the ranking system is to send in the Time Trial results. Like I said Discord has changed how I play F1 22. I am now back to how I started 3 months ago. Time Trials. I spent 5 months doing time trials in iRacing to get my A Class licenses and a month and a half doing TT in F122. I am 2.001 seconds behind Brandon Leigh at Italy (F1 e-Sport Champ 18-19 I think). I would get lapped, but that is ok. That is probably as close as I will get, but I have a lot of work to do on all the other tracks (see pic). All the wet track data is wrong in the pic. I copied and pasted wrong, that won't make sense.
Anyway, I have been playing F1 22 week to week thinking I will never find my community, BUT now, I have a 3-6 month plan and I am confident I will find my community of racers and really enjoy my driving. Thank you!
Valhalla
"Half of those who die in combat enter Valhalla, while the other half are chosen by the goddess Freyja to reside in Fólkvangr".
I wonder what half I will end up in, in 6 months time, lol!
Cheers
Allan
I am off to your facebook post now.

Hi Ultrasonic 77,
No, you haven't lead to some confusion. You have been clear and concise. I understand what you have said. For me I didn't know how to get an invite. I understand most people are joining leagues outside of the game. I see a much bigger picture now, thanks to you and others. I am trying to find those who would invite me. I just didn't know how. All good!
You are a Champion, of that I am sure!
Cheers Allan.
