So, Celtic have slipped up slightly. Now it's the battle of goal difference... Who did they drop points to?
Lens is going to be a really tough couple of matches, I think. - JustinCase01102 years agoSeasoned Ace

Lens is going to be a really tough couple of matches, I think.Well, yes, one draw is considered slipping these days... Celtic got their draw at the hands of Kilmarnock.
Lens was tough, yes, have just played the games, and I'm working on the writeup just now.
Both games were very tight, until a red card changed everything. Update coming up shortly.

Wow. 2 away wins in the Europa League tie. As you said, the red card in France must have had an impact.
Chelsea next. It doesn't get any easier, does it? They're probably the most difficult team remaining in the competition (maybe Newcastle might be close, or even Leipzig).
The Livingston match sees you drop points so soon after Celtic did. Fighting on more than one front can be so difficult at times. It'll be interesting to see how it works out with the matches you have around the Chelsea double-header. - 2 years ago
A draw in the league comes at the worst time right after Celtic "slipped up" as well. The away win in France looks really exciting. Taking advantage of an extra man is not that easy, especially when the other team plays defensive.
Chelsea is the worst team to draw but the best for us to follow. I was curious if these two have ever met, the best I can find is 8 friendlies played but Chelsea and Rangers have never played a competitive game against each other?

It was as clear as day, last defender robbing the forward of a clear goalscoring opportunity, bringing him down just outside the box. The free kick was then converted to a corner by the keeper, and then the goal came from the corner kick. And another soon after, putting me in a pretty good position, 11 vs 10, forcing the others to take the risks. Had I not scored so quickly, things could easily have turned out quite differently, becoming a rather nervous affair.

Yes, Celtic's slip suddenly became insignificant, since I slipped too. And with a home defeat in the next game vs Hearts, the green neighbours were suddenly 5 points ahead before the upcoming derby.
I agree that Chelsea are the toughest available opponent in the Round of 16. Fun dig in the history books, I haven't found any competitive games between them either. I did play Newcastle in the group stage though. And with 3-0 and 2-0 defeats then, perhaps I shouldn't keep my hopes up for this one.

- 2 years ago@JustinCase0110 Bragging rights in Glasgow with another win against Celtic, but the loss to Hearts is costly. With the tough matches to come against Chelsea, this will be a test.

At one point I thought Celtic would win it, scoring so early, and that would have been game over, if they'd had an 8 points gap. Now the 2 points gap can be closed in the remaining derby in the Championship Round. So at least it's in my own hands again.

I feel this is going down to a cliffhanger. Celtic & Rangers still in striking distance of one another.

Yes indeed. Both are also out of Europe now, so it's all about the domestic competitions at this point. Both are in the Cup Semi Final too, vs Motherwell and Hearts respectively.

And in the event of equal points what would be decisive?
Head-2-Head, goal difference total, or championship round only?
It would of course be very anti-climactic if a lesser result against Aberdeen would ruin it for you...
I'm not suggesting anything, I'm just trying to be sarcastically funny š

I honestly don't know. I've read that goal difference is the deciding factor, but whether it's for the full season or only the Championship Round, I really don't know.
Anyway, the Aberdeen game went to plan for sure. So no matter how things are calculated, a win in the last game at Celtic Park will do it for me.

A penalty to decide it all? Rangers hardly get goals against, so it might well be the decider...

Yes, I can't really complain about my defensive stats this season.

They are sweetest this way, aren't they: congratz 'Gers! Now, one more attempt in the Champions League, or...?

Yes, I missed the Champions League last season, so I'm definitely going for a better result this time.
But first, the cup final vs Hearts and a chance for the double.
