A penalty to decide it all? Rangers hardly get goals against, so it might well be the decider...

Yes, I can't really complain about my defensive stats this season.

They are sweetest this way, aren't they: congratz 'Gers! Now, one more attempt in the Champions League, or...?

Yes, I missed the Champions League last season, so I'm definitely going for a better result this time.
But first, the cup final vs Hearts and a chance for the double.

FULL SQUAD COME END OF SEASON:
- 2 years ago@JustinCase0110 Quite the successful end to the season. Last-day victory over Celtic delivering the title, too. That's probaby likely to deliver the seetest fweeling amongst the fans.
A close match against Hearts also ends the 'right way'.
Must be quite satisfying. - JustinCase01102 years agoSeasoned Ace

Must be quite satisfying.Yes, this was absolutely a satisfying end to the season. Brilliant. I just love it, when it remains tight and competitive until the end.

That is a sh!t draw, man!... And it will only amplify the criticism on the chosen course.
You can't say it in public, but reality is that 3rd in such a group is already a very optimistic target and if then the draw is slightly more fortunate to you, maybe have a shot at UEFA Europa League...
- 2 years ago@JustinCase0110 Very tough draw in the CL.
Good start in the league; business as usual with Celtic.
You got good prices for your fringe players. Going to be interesting to see how it pans out with your 'unwanted' (by the fans) signings... - JustinCase01102 years agoSeasoned Ace

Chosen course, yes, that reminds me of a difference in this game, compared to previous releases. We used to know the European groups in late August, providing the possibility to make one or two final adjustments on deadline day, to prepare for said group. Now it seems we're in the first week of September, before the groups are known, and obviously it's no longer possible to strengthen your squad at that point. Apart from freebies, of course.
I agree that a 3rd place could be the best possible outcome here. And not even a certainty... well, Celtic missed out completely, I'm happy to announce. After a Playoff defeat to Ajax!

The transfer business, yes, there's certainly a gamble there, only selling and buying for peanuts. The club signed three £10M players across 2024, so I tried something less this time. But on the other hand, no significant departures either. I did have a few offers for Yilmaz and Raskin, the latter from Chelsea, I recall, but the offers weren't serious enough for me to consider.

3-0 loss against Bayern seems bad, but during these big games it would help to give some stats or tell us about the flow of the game. Obviously Bayern was the better side, but did you get a shot at goal; what was the possession and passing rate; were there things that you thought might work against Galatasaray; is there anything you could build upon?
Next two games are at home against the 'lesser' teams - that's where you need to get your majority of the points: tough cookie...

I didn't make any specific notes about stats, but there was a time, 2-0 down after 11 minutes, where it looked like it could become quite nasty. So it was pretty much damage control from that point, then conceding a third just before half time, before things generally improved after the break. I could perhaps have scored one in the second half, but I wasn't THAT close, really. 3-1 would have been a more fair result than 4-0 though, if we would have seen a 4th goal in the game.
I don't know if I can take anything and use for the Galatasaray fixture. The last three league games have been pretty awful, so improvements must come across both competitions. And my next league game is played at Celtic Park.

Sancho at Bayern. I wonder if something like that might happen IRL in January? He has to find a way out of Old Trafford somehow...
At the moment, it seems like the Rangrs fans were right to be unhappy at the summer transfer business, but there's plenty of time to turn things round. Having said that, still second, still unbeaten, second highest scorers, joint best defence in the league is not to be sniffed at. - JustinCase01102 years agoSeasoned Ace

I honestly can't see anyone else than the Saudi clubs being able to afford his wages and take the risk to bring him in.

That 2-2 draw at Celtic Park means Aberdeen can sneak up on the two of you and potentially make it a three way fight (like the early 1980s).
That 3-2 against Galatasaray is brilliant and opens up a road towards surviving European winter: I do not know about your playing style, but you might consider 'not losing' to Chelsea twice. That would get you to 5 points without Chelsea running away. Assuming Galatasaray gets a point against Bayern at best, you're nearly there in such scenario.
